Park Count/Gate Central

Ever since 2003 Kings Island got Gate Central and I have been so fascinated by it and how it really works. It was created by 2 guys who worked for Paramount Parks it was first tested at Great America the Cedar Fair park in Northern Cali. After it was tested at CGA when the 03 season started KI was the first park to use this new system. Now since KI is owned by Cedar Fair they have kept this amazing system and used it at all of there parks. I know people who post on here have had trouble with there passes scanning at other sister parks but there is a reason behind why they dont and I finally gotten a answer on this. As you know Our park opens in late April but there are sister parks that open before KI. Resson is Knotts is the only year round CF park in the chain and because of this ur Platt pass is acually valid till the first week in March. I have had Friends who have went to Knotts and used there KI platt passes from last year and it worked but it becomes invalid after that first week. Now my pass this year is from Carowinds so I've been getting mail from Carowinds all season and I haven't had one prop this season as far as going to GR and getting a ticket to enter the park except Michigan's Adventure there still on the old CP system and they are the last CF park to get Gate Central.

Now this past Sunday I tok a trip to the Admissions Office and wanted to know how many times I've been to Kings Island and to other sister parks. I kid you not it pulled up my info all the way from 2003 it shows you how many times I visited the park what time my pass was scanned and so on. It shows if you visited other sister parks to. Like I said its a really neat system and how it works.

So next time u visit a Cedar Fair park and your pass is scanned a number will show up thats how many times you have visited that park. When my they saw how many times I have visited the park witch didnt surprise them but when the other sister parks showed up they went DANGGGG LOL.

I Know a lot of you guys count how times you go to KI so next time look for that Number on the screen to see how many times you have been to Kings Island this year or any CF park. The number shows up after your picture.

I will not be experiencing the Kings Island pass problem next year...

I've made certain of that...

Carowinds should be no problem, nor Kings Island.

This year was quite enough of that.

Regardless of what system they use, they need to train at least some of their people, especially at Carowinds, in the arts of customer service, tact and diplomacy. The people I dealt with in admissions there the second Sunday of their season exhibited none of those traits. They put far more faith in their system than they did the customers, who they essentially accused of attempting to enter the park illicitly. And this nearly an hour before the park's rides opened. Why on earth would a visitor have entered the park and then attempted re-entry nearly an hour before the park opened? The answer was clear...they almost certainly had not, but their faith in their system far exceeded any other possibility in their way of thinking.

And none of them had worked there in the Paramount Parks days. Paramount would not have put up with such a lousy excuse for 'customer service.'

They clearly weren`t abiding by the Four Corner Stones that Cedar Fair has. Namely the courtesy and service cornerstones.

Ans on the subject of cleanliness, several of KI`s restrooms could use a sprucing up. It seems as if many of them haven`t received new finishes or fixtures in several years (or decades). And I`m still not a big fan of those Dyson dryer contraptions. Give me the high speed dryers that Coney Island uses in their restrooms and I`d be much happier.

^The Dyson Dryers ( or whatever they are called ) wouldn't be bad if people used them for the purpose they were intended for, ie, drying your hands. I don't use them because people use them to dry their icky clothes after getting off WWC.

I agree. I`d prefer not to have my hands dried off with something that a kid just got done putting his paws all over (even if he did just wash his hands). I`m still kind of surprised that KI hasn`t implemented either the Xcelerator dryers or the Dyson things in all the restrooms to save on paper towel expenses.

Thats why I have gotten ahold of the right person and told him how the inconvenience is and can assure you that it wont EVER happen again. Like I told my friends Before if there is a proplem with the park dont be afriad to tell your feelings. Because I Remember Mr. Scheid saying at 2nd meeting with the tax thing that ANY GUEST WHO WALKS IN MY PARK IS NUMER 1 and he is responsible for every guest that walks in Kings Island.

And for me, my pass flashes 11, followed by the number of visits, because my Platinum pass has actually been renewed to a 2011 KI Platinum Pass. I`m not even certain if KI is selling Platinum passes at the park this year yet. I know they aren`t listed online as being on sale yet. And as an aside, you can renew your Gold Pass on KI`s website (and keep the same card) without getting a new card or picture taken. The site claims that it automatically will renew your pass after you enter your pass`s 20 digit number.

Kept the same card I don't think ill be going to Carowinds till next year I might go to Kings Dominion next week havent decided yet but it was easy just type in your 20 diget number on the back of your pass and its easy no need to go to the park and get a new card made i tried to renew it thru KIs web site and this is what i got LOL.

Errors were found in your submission:

The pass entered belongs to Carowinds not Kings Island.

Renewals must be made on the website of the park where the original pass was purchased. If you wish to renew this pass, you will need to transfer to the Carowinds website. This will empty your shopping cart and begin a new order. If you wish to renew your Carowinds Season Pass click here.

If you want to purchase a Kings Island Season Pass click here.

Kinda Funny how the whole Gate central thing works LOL.

I also got to keep my KI Platinum Pass when I renewed my pass for 2011.

Yea I fugired that I didnt need a new card for 2011 but I know when u buy a new pass from Dollywood or Holiday World they ask u if u are a season pass holder when I renewed my HW season pass for 2011 they asked if i was a season pass holder and they just put a 11 sticker on it no need to reprocess and get a new card so im all set for the 2011 season for next year. Now my Six Flags 2011 pass is from Great adventure and I can tell you the passes are thinner. and it does say on the back the 2011 SF pass A regular season parking pass is only valid at the park where it was purchased.
