Guest TombraiderTy
From ScreamScape... The rumors are 100% true... Splash Mountain is currently adding a large single lap bar to each and every row on the logs. Here's a pic without lapbars... And one with, courtesy of ScreamScape... HTCO
Oh man! Big change. That is indeed a good idea.
The Interpreter
So sad....and so necessary. Why is patron behavior changing so? Why can a ride operate for years with virtually no one misbehaving, then too many riders start thinking they can stand up, get out, etc. and do? Part of it is monkey-see, monkey-do, but what else is operating here? The same thing happened with roller coaster trains. And even rapids rides, where the argument is do you put in seatbelts or do you not? For many years, virtually everyone understood the penalty for standing up or getting out on a ride was quite literally quite possibly a death sentence. And it almost never happened. Yes, rides are safer now. Yes, clearances are now checked. Yes, safety is greater. But patron behavior has changed, and not for the better. You see I also have a side agenda. Quite frankly, some (not all) of the safety mandated changes have made rides less fun. And the ones that have are most often caused by trying to stop patrons from harming themselves or being reckless. Some would put seatbelts in this category....for the most part, I would not (except the self tightening ones like on Morgan steel coaster trains, like Steel Force...,). And, further reflection...should this trend continue, what will rides look like 20 years from now?
LongLiveTheSmurfRide
You're going to have to put on your straitjacket to ride.
The Interpreter
You're going to have to put on your straitjacket to ride. So you've ridden a Skycoaster!

You have a ride that is fun and thrilling with out seat belts. Everyone knows that you could get hurt/killed if you stand up or try to exit the ride when riding it. 10 years later a new ride is added that is more thrilling, but needs restraints to keep people safe, say for example if the ride does a loop. Well people will think that the first ride is safer and they can do stupid things, like stand up....
TylerRider
I just watched Gabriel Iglasius, and he said this is the only ride in the Park he can ride. Now, sadly he can't ride a single ride.
XGatorHead 8904
^I call bull on that. Gabriel Iglesias blows things out of proportion for bigger people (yes, I strongly dislike him and his attempts at comedy. Okay, you're fat... er, I mean "fluffy". We get it. Get some new jokes besides ones about being overweight!). There are plenty of rides at WDW that are easily accessible for people of larger proportions. "it's a small world", Peter Pan, Haunted Mansion, Winnie the Pooh, Dumbo, Jungle Cruise, Pirates of the Caribbean, Buzz Lightyear's Space Ranger Spin, Tomorrowland Transit Authority... I could go on and on. And that's not even all of them at Magic Kingdom, let alone Epcot, DHS & AK!
