MommaBeast
derbeast -- with all (and I do mean ALL) due respect, I've yet to see anyone out- HOP/SNAP/BOUNCE/FLY another poster here who will remain anonymous (unless of course he comes forward---AND YOU KNOW WHO YOU ARE). I swore this guy was gonna bounce right on over to Vortex last summer. And I've seen some good ones. I bet you two are snappin' buds....seems everyone who flies knows everyone else who flies. MommaBeast, whose little'uns can snap like there's no tomorrow --- to the point of shrieks from bystanders!!
derbeast
I worked there for a year and a half, I can also point out every regular, just don't know anyone by name.

coasterdime
I can out-snap anyone in any car. Sounds like a challenge!!! LOL Cool topic! And Momma, it's about time you finally showed up around here! I've ridden in each tub literally dozens of times. Here are my findings: #1 Great for loud, booming SLAMS. This tub can scare people out of line #2 not the best, not the worst #3 this one is great for the ever elusive double snap. I can actually snap the cables, and then snap again before swinging back down #4 I've had good luck in this one, but lucky is: #5 the one with the giant rust spot on the floor. I like this one because the cushions are loose, and you can always find change! #6 The best bird on the ride #7 can be very violent, but you have to learn it. The stoppers are about 1-1/2" farther apart, meaning a larger range of motion on the rudder. #8 If I have a least favorite, this is it #9 Earlier in the season, I hated this one. Last fall, I was FINALLY able to get some serious snappage #10 runs hot and cold for me. I'm either in need of a Chiropractor, or mad beacause of a tame ride. Some might say they are all alike. I learned from Brian (you all know Brian, right?) that there are actually subtle differences on each flyer. For example, #6's cables are (were) just a tiny bit longer than the rest. I also remember him telling me that #3 gets more vomit than the others....I can't figure that one out.
MommaBeast
coasterdime -- I knew you'd show up! And thank you for the warm welcome to the site! You were right...this one's pretty good (and you know I don't stray too far from the 'other' one). You are the SnapMeister ExtraOrdinaire to be sure. Tain't seen nothin' like you or your skills on the tubs---and I've seen some pretty scary snappage! You know your tubs! #9 is a DAWG IMHO right behind #8. And does #7 still have audio?? LOL Thanks for your two pennies.... MommaBeast

PS I made a little girl cry while riding the flyers. Heeheeee.... And I've done some tree trimming in my day, too....one hit was so loud and obvious that the faces of those in line woulda made a good MasterCard commercial. Picture this if you will: Day at the Park: $45.00 Lunch/Snacks: $20.00 Seeing the faces in the crowd after your tub WHACKS a nearby tree: PRICELESS! fryler87
LOL....man this topic is funny...I have one question...Do the ride ops care if you snap your tubs? Snapping them used to scare the crap out of me (but I may have to try it this year for fun... )
MommaBeast
fryler87: Funny?? You think this topic is funny??? This is serious biz, here. Snappers are very earnest about their sport. LOL All kidding aside, we really *do* approach the flyers with a serious, albeit FUN, attitude. And yes...you DO have to try it. As for the 'Snappage Police,' the crew is the coolest on the planet (next to the Delirium crew, next to The Beast crew, next to SoB crew, next to...OK! YOU'RE ALL GREAT!). Your biggest cries will undoubtedly come from mouth-gaping on-lookers. Have fun and give it a whirl. Rudder up at ground level, rudder down at highest point and feel your own personal groove to get your snappage going. Good luck! drewbari
I'm bad at snapping, so I just sit there and enjoy the ride.
flyer06
Ok Im gonna have to agree with derbeast on this one. After working there for 2 years and seeing it/riding it everyday Im sure a beast/scooters person could out do an Acer, regular, whatever you want to call yourself. And Why in the world do you keep track of what tubs do what? If you are good enough you can make them all snap the same.
MommaBeast
derbeast: I know The Beast/Flyer crew are interchangeable entities. However, I haven't seen Matt on the Flyers in a coon's age --- and Daniel (I believe that's his name) was 'driving' The Beast the last time I saw him, and he used to be at the flyers all the time. Now I never see him at the flyers either. So while I know I've seen the crews float back and forth, there seems to be some of them that stay affixed at a certain ride. Is that correct? Or do I just happen to miss the shift changes every time I'm there? Likewise, I've seen the Delirium folks at SlingShot... FOF
So while I know I've seen the crews float back and forth, there seems to be some of them that stay affixed at a certain ride. Is that correct? Or do I just happen to miss the shift changes every time I'm there? I know the question wasn't directed to me, but in the instance of Beast/Scooters and other multi-ride crews the answer is no. Probably just not around when theey switch.

After working there for 2 years and seeing it/riding it everyday Im sure a beast/scooters person could out do an Acer, regular, whatever you want to call yourself. I don't know about that. There are some darn good ACErs out there that are good at snapping those things. Better than any employee I've seen snap.
MommaBeast
flyer06 ~~~ This is the boring off-season, so indulge our tub tawk, will ya? I *do* find a difference in the flyers. Now whether that means I'm not good enough to snap all of them, then so be it. I never said I was anyway. Just like there's a difference between driving a CHEVette and a CORVette, there's a huge difference between the 'performance' of the tubs (I avoid #1 at all costs---even giving up my place in line if I'm left with that one). And, I'm not sure if your post was directed to me, but please allow me to clarify a few things just in case it was: I am NOT an ACEr; and since I live out of state, I don't even know if you'd call me a 'regular,' even though I make several trips per season to visit PKI. I'm sure you can snap with the best of them. I've probably seen you and vice-versa. MommaBeast
coasterdime
Ok Im gonna have to agree with derbeast on this one. After working there for 2 years and seeing it/riding it everyday Im sure a beast/scooters person could out do an Acer, regular, whatever you want to call yourself. And Why in the world do you keep track of what tubs do what? If you are good enough you can make them all snap the same. I'm not claiming to be any better than anyone else. I must say, though, that while Beast crews are on site everyday, they are not riding during most of that time. Even last year, I was giving pointers to two of my favorite ops. For what it's worth, PKI's are notoriously easy to snap. Try the ones at Holiday World, Americana, (if it ever reopens) Knoebels...or many others. The eight tub Bisch-Roccos are a little tougher from what I was taught, and they take practice. I was told they spin at a slightly slower speed. Forget about snapping the newer Larson models, they won't let you! Also, I don't "keep track" of the flyers. I don't go into the park with a clipboard and pocket protecter, while making formulas and taking measurements. My post above is simply from experience. As I've stated in numerous posts, I've ridden this ride literally THOUSANDS of times. Chances are, if you are/were a crew member; you would EASILY recognize me. I won't defend my love for, or experience on this ride. This ride (for me, at least) is about thrill, and more importantly...respect. This ride has operated now for more than 6 decades. I have an appreciation for this ride that I really don't have for many other rides in the park. Also, there ARE differences in the birds that make them very different. I can easily snap them all, but they are FAR from the same. Again, when I was a novice, I would actively seek the advice... and then later high fives of the ops. Now, after thousands of rides, hours of online research, and numerous verbal attacks by ignorant guests (three of which almost escalated to violence) I'm quite confident with my snapping skills, and feel I can hold my own. For what it's worth, I still have rust from rainy rides stained on a shirt, and blue paint chips attached to my wallet. (still not sure how that happened) Time for a showdown....how about 4/3, at HIGH NOON?! Just kidding of course.... BTW....flyer06, email me if you want...I probably know you! MommaBeast No that is not correct, they rotate all day long, sometimes one might get lucky and spend the whole shift at Beast, but usually not.
