The Interpreter
Well, the man who was in charge of Paramount Parks, and who Mr. Dick Kinzel quickly showed the door, is the Chief Operating Officer at SIX these days....
bkroz
Notable: Attendance up 1%, ticket revenue up 11%, in park sales up 10%.... All of this in Q1? WOW! But... What parks owned by SIX are actually open during the first quarter? And what events do those parks have going on that might boost attendance and in-park sales? It's certainly an impressive figure in that it would seem to be a reflection of corporate changes. But Q1 isn't generally that representative of the fiscal year, right? For whatever reason, I was thinking this was in comparison to the quarter before. Silly me! GYK, who has much to learn in these parts! Sounds like Dick made a terrible move there, and now he is wanting to hire Mark S to replace him. You know I was on his side when Q became a pain in his side, but he is making it harder and harder to side with him.
The Interpreter
The Motley Fool weighs in, with a good summary of where things are in the regional park business and on Six Flags: ...Regional parks are just getting started in what promises to be a bumpy season where discretionary income levels, new thrill rides, and gas prices dictate where the winners are queued up.... http://www.fool.com/...-six-flags.aspx
