Trip Report 6/20

Well our second day at Kings Island started off on the wrong foot as we arrived at 10 and had to suffer through rain and storms for the next couple of hours. Very few rides were open, but we repeatedly rode some of what was: Boo Blasters, Dodgems, the carousel, Linus Launcher and a VERY wet ride on the Scrambler. I gave a glance and thought while passing The Crypt, but I've read so many negative reviews about the ride I just skipped it. Finally the rain let up after 12 and they started to get the other rides ready for operation. The crowds were low for the rest of the day and nearly everything was walkon or nearly so. What started out as a bad day turned out great as we had a blast riding so many different rides so many different times I couldn't keep count. It was a get off a ride and get right back on type of day.

Our trip here last year was my family's first and the first for me in over 20 years. It also was packed and we got on very few rides. This year was alot of first rides for all of us and I'll try to give you my impressions of most of what we rode.

First off, my wifes favortie ride was without a doubt Surf Dog. She would have rode this all day long without getting off it if they would have let her. She rode Diamondback once, but got a headache after the ride and declined to get back on it. My son, who will soon be 10, was willing to ride anything. He loved Drop Tower but hated Delirium. It absolutely terrified him and he panicked on the ride. That will be a definate no no ride for him in the future. My older daughter likes the smaller rides, there is just no getting her on anything bigger.

We rode, in no particular order, Woodstock Express, Aerial Chase, Kite Eating Tree (dull), Shake Rattle and Roll, Racer (both sides were rough but fun), Backlot Stunt Coaster, Adventure Express, Congo Falls, Viking Fury, and the K.I. and Miami Train, plus all of the before mentioned rides. Woodstock Express had a problem with one of the lap bars on one of the cars and I got to see a mechanic fix it in quick fashion. Also, while we were in line for Adventure Express, it went down and we waited for a few minutes as a mechanic worked under a car in the station but finally left as it appeared he wouldn't have it fixed anytime soon. We had a fine lunch at the Rivertown Dining Hall and watched a little of some of the shows around the park.

We will for sure be coming back, but it will more than likely be a couple of years. We all greatly enjoy the park, but my wife wants to go somewhere different next summer. Dollywood and Pigeon Forge is the front runner right now. I have a few pics below of our second day at the park.
