Glasses - on or off?

Featured Replies

As a glasses wearer, I'm curious to know how many people risk losing them by leaving them on during a ride.

I used to always take mine off, but got a little more daring with some rides. I didn't realize what a difference it would make being able to see the surroundings! I almost lost them last time I was on the Tornado at Stricker's Grove, though, so I might be back to always-off.

Anyone wear contacts on the rides? Do you lose them easily?

I wear glasses and use the strap you can get in the vision center at walmart for like $3.00. Never had any issue and have wore them on ever coaster at Ki and CP this season. Hope this helps!

I wear both glasses and contacts in day to day life, but make sure to always have contacts on when planning on riding roller coasters. I do usually wear sunglasses though, without a strap on most rides unless told otherwise (i.e. Maverick)

I wear glasses with a strap all the time when at the park.

I wear mine without a strap, except when required, generally without issue. It's much more enjoyable when you can see what's around you (imagine that!)

When it's sunny, I wear sunglasses with no strap and have never lost a pair yet. I also wear contacts and have not lost one of those yet either. On the rare occasion of riding with my regular glasses, I usually have a strap for those since their more expensive than the cheap sunglasses I always get.

I've only had a problem with glasses on one ride, which was Invertigo (Face/Off at the time). I lost one of the lenses out of my prescription glasses while riding it. That lens liked to pop out from time to time anyway, so I wasn't too surprised when it happened.

i have worn glasses without straps on db, stuntcoaster, fd, ae and Vortex once but usually i have a strap

I always say, it depends on how tight they are against your head. If you feel like they will fall off, then you should probably hold on to them or leave them behind. Best bet is always to leave your loose articles behind.

i got tired of taking off my glasses and not being able to see so i invested in a 4 dallor strap from wally worlds vision center and it worked great

I ordered a Cincinnati Reds eyeglasses strap off ebay for just a couple of bucks. Works fine, keeps them on nice and tight, have never had a problem on any ride.

I used to go without, then wore my glasses with a strap.

I now use sports goggles, with the built in strap, these are the best.
