Coasters after surgery

So I know all the safety signs say not to ride if you've had recent surgery. Well, I had Oral surgery today, and was hoping to go to KI this weekend (or more preferably, Thursday or Friday). I asked my doctor about recovery time, and he said that, unless I were to get an infection of some kind, 2-3 days of rest is plenty for a full recovery. While I know it would be better to ask a doctor, I'm just asking around to see what you guys think. (I will not hold anyone on this site accountable for my own stupidity if I hurt myself lol). Or are those signs more geared at the more physically demanding types of surgery anyway? In case you're wondering, the surgery was removal of three wisdom teeth and the addition of one implant. Any advice from someone who has had similar procedures would be great :P

I think you'll be fine riding some coasters. Just make sure you ride in smooth locations so your jaw doesn't bang against the upper row of teeth.

You know what *I* think? You should wait one more day for KIC Day! Remember, Fast Lane is recommended! ;)

But you should definitely talk to your doctor.

I will probably ask just to be sure. I just figured that if there was a big glaring "Absolutely not!" that I would get it here. Basically, I didn't fugure I'd get a definite yes, but if it were a definite no, I thought that conclusion would be reached pretty quickly.

I have had the procedure done before, except with four teeth removed. Teeth hurt for four to five days before medication wasn't needed anymore. So I think a four or five day brake would be most appropriate considering the situation. Honestly I think you could go earlier, just depends on the pain.

Just try not to depend on the "happy pills" as what I call my Percocet pain meds that I took after I had my second cervical spinal surgery to fuse 4 of my disks. With your oral surgery, it should be ok after about 5 days or so. I still can't ride nor will I risk riding the coasters, especially the steel coasters with inversions and cork screws. Nothing that will jerk my neck around.

I am an odd one I guess. The Dentist absolutely petrifies me. So much so, that even something as unrelated as riding Firehawk gives me a mild panic attack due to the fact that the angle at which the seats lay back in the station is about the same as a dentist's chair (I'm fine once I get to the lift hill though). I guess it's some sort of weird psycological association that triggers unpleasant memories in my mind. But that's neither here nor there. Despite my horrible fear of dentistry, I recover amazingly fast. I had 3 wisdom teeth removed and an implant put in, and as pain pills go, one Aleve when I got home was the only pain medication I ever took. I don't know if this helps my case, but I still don't think I'll risk it until at least Saturday. If my girlfriend gets off work Saturday, we will be going to the park for KIC day, even if I can't ride it could still be a good time.
