The Ride Process

Featured Replies

The 2014 forum is going great under KI. I don't want to detract from that page, but also want to keep it on topic. So with this 2014 project and other massive projects (I.e Diamondback Firehawk), raises the question. What's the best part of the ride process?

1)Speculation/Unknown construction/Park Teases

2)The reveal of the ride/park construction updates

3)Official Opening of ride/Line Waiting/Admiring the ride

Reveal of the ride. It gets me so excited and I love the attention Kings Island (or any park) gets. Of course I love riding it but I love the anticipation more. I hate speculation because no one has valid speculations and it's all a confused mess. But once it's officially announced, that's great.

No one has valid speculations?

That hasn't been true in the past.

Someone will doubtlessly be very accurate. And others will mock that person.

Perhaps most.

I'd like to be able to see what goes into planning and designing a ride or attraction. Since I'm not an employee of the amusement or construction business, it'll probably never happen, though.

Well, after going through this process with Gatekeeper, I would have to say step 3. Sure everything leading up to the new experience is fun, but finally getting to do it for yourself after seeing everything that goes into it is like payday after a long week of work.

I like the reveal and construction and all the hype that goes into it. Of course the speculation and riding are super fun too.

The best part is riding a good ride. After Cedar Fair teased WindSeeker and Dinosaurs Alive as thrill rides, I reserve judgment until I have ridden the new ride.

Add Shoot the Rapids at Cedar Point and Planet Snoopy at Kings Dominion, though the former was largely the old dinosaur claiming that.

I like waiting in line for a new ride, even if it's 2 hours. On the rides that have already been there, just going up the lift hill gets me excited. (Except on Beast where the lift hill goes 4MPH)
