The Interpreter
Terp...can be...rotten. See also Thunder Road. (what happens to non-pressure treated wood when the paint is stripped from it?)
Ride On_17
Luckily Racer had awesome airtime when I rode it. The roughness was really bad though. But even though some people complain about wooden coasters because of how rough some of them are (I'll admit, sometimes this even includes me), people should think more before they say "Tear 'em down!" Without these old, classic woodies, we may not have had all these monstrous steel scream machines that we do now. Sure, I might be interested in given some of them the Rocky Mountain treatment (Mean Streak, anyone?), but I really do love these old rides. There's just something about them...
The Interpreter
Much roughness can be avoided by seat selection. On three or four bench trains, select a middle row of a CAR. On two benchers, the front seat of a CAR. Avoid the back row of a car, it's right over the wheels. On single row cars, hope it's a GCI!
Ride On_17
I didn't pay much attention to where I sat on it, but this was probably the issue. I just jumped into the 1st seat I saw open since it was a walk-on, but in the future I'll be sure not to sit over a wheel. This is the case for any woodie, really. The Interpreter
Not Coaster at PNE Playland. Not Thunderhead. I could go on....

Ride On_17
Haha thanks. Our family camera is a Canon Powershot SX50 HS. I took many of the pictures I posted, and my mom also took a few (and we had a random stranger take our family picture in front of the KI sign). TheCrypt
Those are great pictures. I really like the Diamondback shots and the picture of the Royal Fountain.
zombieninja
These pictures are amazing. You seem to be very good at timing and finding unique angles.
Ride On_17
Glad you like them. And I love shots that are unique and that have different angles, zooms, etc. I tried out several different shots on Diamondback in particular and posted what I thought were the coolest ones. By zooming in so much, it's also fun to look at the photos on my computer in full screen and examine them. Ex: in one of my DB pics, there are 2 people holding hands. I find these little details to be very interesting, but I also think they complete the "feel" of the picture. You can always go and find many pictures of a ride that all look the same, and both my mom and I like to create new, unique shots that capture the true essence of something or to get it in a completely different view or perspective. And that night fountain shot turned out really cool. There were no special settings or effects added to it; that's what makes it even cooler. Now that I'm looking at all these pics again, I'm craving to get back to KI! EDIT: And one of my favorite shots is the one of BLSC. Timing it just right, the picture was taken just as the train emerged from the tunnel. We were laughing that the train that we happened to take the picture of included several kids that demonstrated the true "feel" of this ride. They were smiling, had their hands up, were making funny hand signs, and just show the fun and family aspects that this ride is all about. I just love it.
