Did Gemini have three trains?

Recommended Posts

I also read that Gemini had three trains at some point as well. You can see the remaining red and blue trains sitting in Mean Streak's infield. I've seen them myself.(Sorry, I don't have any pictures of them because I saw them while riding Mean Streak.) I also know you can see either a yellow or purple Double Loop car sitting there as well.

Ride stacking/hit interval better with two trains than three, just the typical arrow curse. Also it's a safety issue, with having only photo eyes w/ the PLC & manual station braking, the ride stops in any drop of rain like TTD, with three trains it's harder to unload everyone safely and get the trains all stopped. With two trains the ride can shut down with weather quicker than three train op. Also, gemini is one of the few rides that can not transfer off, if it gets stopped in transfers, it has to be winched back to the station or up 1/3rd of the lift

Photo eyes=imagine a laser crossing the tracks path, anything crosses it for a period of time, sensor=tripped

Limit switch=little tab the train actually comes into contact with and moves

These sense where the train is at certain sections of the track, it's how block systems/brake systems work

So if it rains, these sensors get hit/blocked, thinks a train is there, when it isn't. It's a safety issue, especially at the trims before the final return loop. Next time you ride, see how many photo eyes are on those things (at night you'll see a red glow)

Now the station, this is one of the few manual rides. The train is stopped by each person in controls manually, IE they have to control the braking (which is why you hear the brakes spaz as it goes into the station, or plays "music" lol, I've heard eye of the tiger, or epic double base drums before). Anyways, manual braking & photo eyes, rain, not a good combo. If it skids past, the trains have to be unlocked manually & that's kind of an evac, or it overshoots, and goes into the next block (transfers, which means if it stops there it has to be winched back to station/lift hill), and then sets up the rest of the ride (as soon as a train hits any brakes, it's ganna get stopped). So weather and gemini don't mix.

What killed 6 train ops on gemini was the instillation of seatbelts and gates. They slowed the dispatch times enough to cause stacking issues, the same happened with corkscrew.

OK, when I first saw that, I thought that six people ("train operators") had been killed on Gemini, and I was wondering, "Why haven't I heard of this before?" I had to read it twice to figure out that you were talking about six-train operation. Whew!
