TowerGuy Posted March 13, 2003 Posted March 13, 2003 I was at the park yesterday and saw that the big sign in the parking lot was being taken apart. They had taken out the big light board. Does anyone know wether or not they are updating the sign with the new PKI logo? Quote

Beastfreak Posted March 13, 2003 Posted March 13, 2003 Actually, I'm pretty sure that the old PKI logo is here to stay on that sign for a while. This is the second trip that the "sign guys" have made to the park in the last month. The first visit they checked out the light panel message board and replaced all the lights on the PKI logo, if you've been by at night you will notice its much brighter and all the stars work. From what I gather. They tried to fix the light up message part and were partially completed but the park wanted it to look perfect after many years of troublesome messages being displayed from a partially corrupt board. I haven't heard anything about the new sign being in color but that would rule. I assumed that the sign was just being replaced with a new one of the same time. We will just have to wait and see over the next few weeks. Quote

If the sign guys made one visit, and started finding problems with the sign, after replacing a bunch of the bulbs, then maybe PKI told them to just fix the whole thing. That would be cool. new PKi logo at the top, and new color boards in the middle. I'll bet thats expensive no matter what, running cabling all the way back to around the park gates. One thing is for sure, the sign will really stand out, if it is in fact color, when finished. Quote
Beastfreak Posted March 31, 2003 Posted March 31, 2003 Well the new sign is up and operational as of last week. The lights are much smaller than the old light board so it allows animations. Aparently I heard that they the first day they turned it on they ran an animation of The Racer like you were riding it but that has since been changed and is now displaying time, temp, how many more days till opening day and all the new stuff for the park with the only animation being the transistion from one message to the next. For those who said it would be a color board, you were wrong, its still just white lights but it looks much better than it used to. Quote
