I'm still scratching my head wondering why he would need help with the announcement. Guess we got to wait 'till tomorrow.

Yeah, rumor has it that the big Arcade in the Main Midway is going to be redone and turned into a dark ride. I would approve of this, since the arcade does nothing for me. However, it doesn't seem like Cedar Fair to throw away a money making thing for something that would take money to make. Unless the arcade isn't pulling in any money, which I could see. We'll have to wait and see.

Yeah, rumor has it that the big Arcade in the Main Midway is going to be redone and turned into a dark ride.

Would using the Coliseum building (ballroom/arcade) for a dark ride be economically feasible?

The ground floor has low ceiling clearance and an excessive number of supports. The second floor has limited means of ingress and egress. Both floors likely have an insufficient maximum load.

Such a remodel would certainly require extensive modifications to meet modern building codes.

Edit: fixed "Coliseum"

The Coliseum is on the National Register of Historic Places. Shouldn't the word Coliseum be capitalized?

That does seem like a strange place to put a dark ride.

I bet there will be more discussion about this topic here than on PointBuzz, which is pretty sad.

I personally hope it's a dark ride (and I've heard rumors that the park will get one either next year or in 2015.) I don't think next year will bring anything more major than a dark ride since there really haven't been any clues. It's almost August and we pretty much know nothing about what's coming.

Sort of sounds like Kings Island...except at least we know what type of addition it's going to be--a coaster.

Probably true about the discussion. I also think the park is going to get another observation tower soon. I would love to see one with a restaurant at the top or even a viewing floor that slowly rotates.

I still can't imagine Cedar Point with a dark ride, to be honest.

Well you must be somewhat young because Cedar Point has had a few, most notable the Eathquake and Pirate Ride.

The arcade is quite a money maker. Rumor from when I was there is that it pulls about 1k an hour on a good day, which to me is a giant woah. However I would be surprised to see a retrofit there.

As long as these corkscrew removal rumors never happen I don't care what happens :)

I bet they're gonna drop a tape measure from the top of the Magnum;s first hill to see if it's sinking or not - and they need several people to help hold that long tape and then verify the results. I would also imagine several news crews could be present since this has been a big topic for so many years - almost as long as the Jimmy Hoffa disappearance!

With the recent clue by Tony Clark such as he's keeping his office "door closed" along with some other recent hint type things would lead me to believe that Cedar Point would like to add an Amusement Dark to their amusement park.......

I honestly can't see them getting rid of the arcade, especially since when it's raining, people go in there and spend money on the arcade games. If you add a dark ride, you lose all that income.

By getting a family to record the announcment, I just have to wonder how this ride/addition will not be leaked.
