The Interpreter Posted September 30, 2013 Posted September 30, 2013 ^ Prescription Ski goggles? Knott's won't allow them. Quote
upstop Posted September 30, 2013 Posted September 30, 2013 I wonder why they have that policy? seems odd since you would think they would want you to be able to see and possibly have eye protection. 2 Quote
The Interpreter Posted September 30, 2013 Posted September 30, 2013 Who knows? I've argued with them until they were blue in the face. No other California nor Cedar Fair park has such an inane, inflexible, stupid policy. 5 Quote
malem Posted September 30, 2013 Author Posted September 30, 2013 ^ Did you ever write to park management? Quote
YoungStud Posted September 30, 2013 Posted September 30, 2013 Maybe mr. Helbig can coomunicate with their pr person? Quote
upstop Posted September 30, 2013 Posted September 30, 2013 Sounds like an ADA violation...they should be able to reasonably accommodate anyone who must wear glasses to board and disembark from any ride....it could be unsafe to do so without the appropriate eyewear. 5 Quote
The Interpreter Posted September 30, 2013 Posted September 30, 2013 I've written Cedar Fair corporate on many occasions. Nowadays, I just go to Anaheim and Valencia instead. 8 Quote
upstop Posted September 30, 2013 Posted September 30, 2013 Wonder if the new top dog could fix that problem, if addressed directly? 1 Quote
malem Posted September 30, 2013 Author Posted September 30, 2013 ^^ You wrote to corporate, not the park? Your eye protection issue seems to be with Knott's Berry Farm, not (directly) with Cedar Fair, L.P. Quote
The Interpreter Posted September 30, 2013 Posted September 30, 2013 The park made its position very clear. The GM himself adamantly so. 1 Quote
thedevariouseffect Posted September 30, 2013 Posted September 30, 2013 ^ Prescription Ski goggles? That would make Terp look like this mess...and I think he'd rather not look like this...nor hopefully anyone else here on this board...We finally rid one member of the dreaded man car stealing fanny pack.. 6 Quote
upstop Posted September 30, 2013 Posted September 30, 2013 Just wow.....I wonder how many people have bought their ticket only to know they won't be able to wear glasses....bad policy that might offend possible repeat visitors...you for instance. Quote
jcgoble3 Posted September 30, 2013 Posted September 30, 2013 We finally rid one member of the dreaded man car stealing fanny pack.. Not so fast. I only have cargo shorts, not long cargo pants or the money to buy long cargo pants at this time. So the fanny pack may still come out this fall if it's too cold for shorts. 3 Quote
thedevariouseffect Posted September 30, 2013 Posted September 30, 2013 Just get a pair of military spec pants...all the room in your pants you could dream of (man that sounds dirty) I suggest multicams...beatiful camo, very fun, and very effective camo...probably only set ya back 50-ish maybe 30 if you find a good vendor that'll sell em at the price we can get em Quote
jcgoble3 Posted September 30, 2013 Posted September 30, 2013 I don't have the money for anything right now, and it's still up in the air as to whether I'll have the money for new pants next month at all. Quote
thedevariouseffect Posted September 30, 2013 Posted September 30, 2013 Actually what's your waist size...I may have old ABU pants that are of the old 100% cotton blend that I don't want anymore..I prefer the ripstop material.. Quote
jcgoble3 Posted September 30, 2013 Posted September 30, 2013 My jorts and cargo shorts are 30s, while my long jeans are a 32. Either would probably be fine. Quote
homestar92 Posted September 30, 2013 Posted September 30, 2013 Sounds like an ADA violation...they should be able to reasonably accommodate anyone who must wear glasses to board and disembark from any ride....it could be unsafe to do so without the appropriate eyewear. Also, let's say you are required to remove glasses on a coaster (let's say Ghost Rider). At that point, you cannot see well enough to read posted signage. You stupidly decide to stand up, and you fall to your death. Since they would not allow you to wear glasses (and in so doing, rendered you unable to read the sign) then is the park legally liable for your death in the almost certain lawsuit that would follow? Also, to be a bit less morbid and bring this topic back on topic: 1 Quote
thedevariouseffect Posted September 30, 2013 Posted September 30, 2013 If I end up seeing you this week I may bring a pair...it'll come close, but we shall see..Also for cold weather the 100% cotton ABU's are nice and thick, pretty good for cold weather.. Being a native Ohioan...I'll wear the ripstop abu (50% cotton, 50% poly) that's thin (our summerweight) and still be fine however haha 2 Quote
