SFOG
Hey Guys! I'm in Atlanta, but will be heading up to Cincinnati this weekend to hit Kings Island (went once back in the SOB post-loop days), Stricker's Grove, and possibly Coney Island as well. I assume it will be very busy (going on Saturday and the weather will be surprisingly warm/hot!) so I am already planning to get Fast Lane Plus. A few questions: If I buy tickets and Fast Lane Plus online, what will I need to do once I get to the park to get in? I've heard sometimes the entrance is very crowded. Does Fast Lane let you choose whatever seat you want on every coaster? If not, which coasters have assigned seating and in what rows? (at SFOG the older rides do not have "Flash Pass" lines so you enter through the exit and on some coasters they force you in a seat. Same happened at Busch Gardens Williamsburg and Apollo's Chariot is a lot less exciting in row 2 vs. the back row). What is the best food in the park? Best shows? Best haunt attractions? I would really appreciate answers to those questions and any other advice you guys can offer! Thanks! - Ryan
TheBEASTunchained
There is no Fast Lane on Flight Deck, there is no Fast Lane Plus on Flight Deck, either. No, Fast Lane doesn't let you choose where you sit on the rides, although when you are being assigned a seat you can always request a seat of choice...But don't count on getting that seat. CP&LERR Fan
Hi there this will give you all information on Fast Lane, and no there is no Fast Lane for flight deck. If you get a regular Fast Lane pass you can't use it on Beast or Firehawk. https://www.visitkingsisland.com/things-to-do/fast-lane

Thanks for the info! I'm disappointed by the rep at KI I spoke to on the phone who got irritated with me and assured me Fast Lane Plus worked on every coaster and I could choose any seat. Do you know which rides don't let you choose your seat? Also, on the rides that have specific rows for Fast Lane, which rows? (if you know. I know that is a very specific question). Do you know any specifics on what coasters have assigned seating for Fast Lane (and if so, which rows). Also, I assume it will be busy on Saturday but do you have any idea just how busy it usually is on an October Saturday with great weather? I went this year in August during the week, wasn't packed but it was a decent amount of people. Since school is in, more kids will be there on the weekend. I have not bought a fast pass yet, so I can't help you on that. Sorry. Also I don't guarantee on how crowded or the weather read this article from pointbuzz this goes with all the Cedar Fair parks http://pointbuzz.com/Forums/Thread/22760.aspx http://pointbuzz.com/Forums/Thread/22761.aspx Edited October 11, 2013 by CP&LERR Fan

I went to SFGAdv on a Wednesday 2 weeks before local public schools got out and they had 1-2 hour lines. I hope I can get good seats with Fast Lane. Thanks again for the advice! ohiocolts
Fast Lane will just send you to the station, as If you were in the regular line, but with no/minimal wait. Depending on the separator/ride/wait, you may or may not get assigned a row. But, as The Beast Unchained said, you could request a row if you wanted. jcgoble3
Firehawk, Flight of Fear, and Backlot Stunt Coaster sometimes assign seats, but when they do, they assign seats for everyone. There are no rides that assign seats only for Fast Lane users. (There are also no coasters on which Fast Lane users enter through the exit.) This Saturday will be extremely packed because of the weather and because it is Columbus Day weekend. I would not be surprised if the park hits capacity. Because of that, if you want to go out to your car mid-day, check with admissions associates or Guest Services first before you attempt to exit and re-enter; if the park is at capacity, you might not be allowed back in even with a handstamp. I'm not sure how KI operates admissions when at capacity, though, so you may want to ask at Guest Services when you arrive rather than trusting me. If you buy tickets and Fast Lane online, your printed admission e-ticket can be taken straight to the turnstiles. Your Fast Lane voucher should then be taken to the Fast Lane sales booth inside the park to the left of the entrance, where they will scan it and issue you your wristband. Be aware that as of last year, Fast Lane online purchases were blocked out the day before, so buy it tonight. Or you can buy it when you arrive, as there is no discount for buying Fast Lane online like there is for admission tickets. Best food IMO would be Hank's Burrito Shack (similar prices to Chipotle outside the park) and the Reds Hall of Fame Grille (KI's only table-service restaurant). Have fun!

So as far as you know Fast Lane brings you into the normal line in the station where the line splits to choice of rows? I would love that, I just don't want the format where you enter from the exit and are assigned to a row (which tends to be the least favorable row on the train). Thank you
ohiocolts
Yes, Fast Lane usually has it's own separate queue, but it goes into the station the same point the regular line does.

Very detailed information. I am so happy to hear that they don't do the exit entry thing (SFOG does that on rides that existed before Flash Pass and do not have a special entrance designed for it). I plan on buying my tickets and Fast Lane Plus tonight since the website says they are limited. I can only imagine how busy it might be. I was shocked to see a high of 78 in October in Ohio! Thanks for the food suggestions as well, I will probably do Hank's for lunch and Red's for dinner. I'll hopefully take some pictures and post a trip report here next week. It seems crazy to drive to Cincinnati from Atlanta but I loved KI and thought this was a great chance to check out Stricker's Grove. I'd like to see a bit of the city on Sunday too. Thanks again, if you have any other advice feel free to share.

PKIVortex
I have never seen them assign seats for Fast Lane users, however Flight of Fear, and Firehawk may be an exception, I don't ride those rides much as usually the lines are between 1 and 2 hours long! Backlot probably will assign seats as well!

I wonder why Flight of Fear assigns seats for all riders.. they did that at KD as well once the park has enough people to fill the rows (the day I went most coasters were walk on). Thanks for helping confirm that, I'm glad they don't assign seats for Fast Lane, and I'm glad I'm getting Fast Lane to avoid those lines. It is pricey but I'm driving a long way so I need to make the most of it!
PKIVortex
Yeah Fast Lane is great for people who don't visit the park very often and if the park is very busy. I'm a regular and don't see the need for me to shell out the Money on something that wouldn't really be worth it to me. However if I would happen to go to another Cedar Fair park that I don't venture to often, I may be willing to buy it!

I bought Fast Lane Plus at KD but it was 50s and rainy and it ended up being a waste of money.. I'm pretty sure I will get my money's worth this time around though! shawnofthedead
Things I have learned Fast Lane: Addictive Reds Hall of fame grill: Addictive Delerium: Fast Lane always gets you seats 1-2 unless fastlane has ppl in it. Skyflyer & Slingshot: Buy your tickets early and ride later Drop Tower: Thats its always scary Backlot Stunt Coaster: More fun than it looks Diamondback: Never gets old, hands and feet up is the best way to ride up. Pouring Rain = Pain Vortex..5th car 1st row = Less rough Racer & The Beast. Middle seat of any car.(not a wheel seat) Smoothest The Beast: I always feel like my head is going to get cut off, and at night is a whole other Beast Firehawk. Doesnt have bins and Last car (back of train) is awesome Flight of Fear: Hold your head back Flight Deck, Backlot, AE: Great coasters for beginners Also that basketballs are annoying, if you fast pass you will get dirty looks, scare actors target women and teens, and "that all clear means your guys are up and outta here" :-)
Diamondback96
An entire amusement park is going to KI? I've read everything... Diamondback96, not really being helpful. Anyway, I'd just remember to have fun. That's the most important thing to do at any amusement park.
coasterfanatic83
Make sure to ride The Beast after dark, because it is incomparable to anything else. When I go to a new park, I always try to do things that are unique. If you can't do it anywhere else or you never have done it before, it is worth a try no matter what. Don't overlook things because you never know what you might find!
BeastForever
I highly recomend sitting in seat 6-2 for The Beast (second last row); it is the perfect balance of smoothness and "fun" jostling all while maintaining the most possible force. I also highly recomend riding in left seat of 6-1 (second last row) on Flight Deck; it is just like, AWESOME.
sheikra_rocks
YOU MUST SEE ED ALONZO'S SHOW DURING HAUNT! It is hysterical! I usually just get Fast Lane when I see that the park is going to be super busy. I will wait to ride The Beast, it is worth it. You can save money by just getting a regular Fast Lane, then going to Firehawk then Beast first thing right after opening. You will also want to ride The Beast at night!

Also, no dirty look can be worse than the time I had Flash Pass with a double ride wristband at my Six Flags... I was already locked in my seat and the girl wanted in after waiting in line for 2 hours... she actually started screaming at me, kicked me, and left the ride after waiting those 2 hours. Interesting to hear that the middle row in the car is best on The Beast and Racer... I'm used to the front of any car being the smoothest. I'll try that out! I've been on them before but I can't remember where I sat. Thanks for the Firehawk and Vortex advice as well!

I actually liked the ride even though it was very rough. The size was just incredible. Riding The Beast at night locked it into my top 3 wooden coasters for sure.

I've been on The Beast at night yearssss ago and it is safe to say I'll spend most of the dark hours of my visit on it!
