Only KI based restaurants in the park

I worked in food service for years, years ago (hallelujah). Part of it would be novelty. There seems to be a trend with food trucks. They are popping up everywhere in Indy (or so it seems). Most sell Mexican cuisine. I personally think working in a truck would suck. It could broaden food options in the park.

They can rent a spot, plus a portion of commission from each vendor (perhaps). Aside from insurance and possibly some advertising which the cost could be passed on to the vendors, it's low cost for the park. Not saying it's necessarily feasible, just an idea.

I have a lot of ideas, they are just not all great ideas.

To answer the original question:

I eat at the park a lot during the summer. The KI-owned restaurants are hit or miss when it comes to service and quality. I'm not one to complain or anything, but if I'm paying 130% of what I should be paying for this stuff then I expect excellence every time. It's kind of like when you stay in a 5 star hotel. You rightfully assume that it's going to be cleaned and stocked before you get there. It's not 110% guatenteed, but it's a safe assumption.

Kings Island has taken many steps in the right direction with the foods department. It's run by great people. However, it still doesn't offer the consistence that the outside chains - with non park employees - offers.

With what it seems to be a new trend, I half expect more of the food truck type offerings. From what they show on various TV shows, they offer a lot of things from cupcakes to full meals that actually look very tasty. Easy to change menus, can easily be moved to different areas as needed.

I love foodtrucks and hope amusement parks start using them. I know Cedar Point has had one and it serves Lake Erie perch sandwiches. I would rather stop by a food truck while I'm walking to a ride than go out of my way to walk into a restaurant and order. In no way am I lazy and there are cirumstances where I'd prefer the latter, but most of the time I don't want to spend a large amount of time eating a meal when I'm at a park. I'd rather get something quickly and then move on to the next ride or attraction I want to hit. I could really see foodtrucks' popularities expand in parks if they were advertised throughout the park and they offered more selections. I think it would be a great idea.

I mostly agree. There are times that I feel that a sit down is necessary. When I'm at a park, I typically eat one big meal while there. Then snack on the way home. For instance, at Cedar Point, I take a break right around 3 ish and eat at Midway Market....I've never had a bad experience there, it's a little pricey but I get full, I'm able to relax and enjoy the air conditioning.

I'm right there with you! I expect better quality, service, etc. when I pay more than I would outside of the park. Sometimes I've gotten it, sometimes I haven't.

I saw no for the main fact that it is good marketing for the park and for the outside food companies as well. Skyline and Larosas should be there because of their local appeal to drive more guests to eat a familiar item. There are a lot of parks I've visited that serve what I like to call "lunch room" food, and i think KI having some of the 3rd party providers they have gives a unique taste to many of the people who are visiting the park, especially from out of town. They get a taste of the area, not just generic food.
