DegenRider Posted April 19, 2004 Posted April 19, 2004 I was just thinking what is the side B movie going to be this year. Is it gonna be the same old movie it was last year or did they get somthing new? I would love to see a classic AT movie in side B.
teenageninja Posted April 19, 2004 Posted April 19, 2004 Legends of the Secret Temple or CRAP as I like to call it will not be returning this year. A new attraction will be comign to side B. What I've heard is that it was very popular at the park it was before.
stephenmayes Posted April 19, 2004 Posted April 19, 2004 Im going on my gut feeling, Days of Thunder.... Tiny
coasterrz Posted April 19, 2004 Posted April 19, 2004 I would thouroughly enjoy the ride if the park did bring back Days of Thunder. That movie would fit in perfectly with the park`s "Hollywood" theme for this year. Addtionally, it has been ten years since the ride opened and seven years since it last was played at PKI. I rode it back then, but don`t remember it that well. DoT would be better than some of the other movies they have played in side B in the past couple of years. We`ll just have to wait until June to see what the park puts into side B.
PKI Punk Posted April 19, 2004 Posted April 19, 2004 I don't know, my guess would be 007. That was a pretty cool ride. I think this ride would fit in with the "hollywood" theme.
coasterrz Posted April 19, 2004 Posted April 19, 2004 I`s much rather see Days of Thunder in side B than James Bond. Just my 2 cents though.
teenageninja Posted April 19, 2004 Posted April 19, 2004 I assure you whatever it may be will not be 3D. Side A is the only one with a 3D camera. Don't get your hopes up to high for a returning favorite, especially since I an action theatre crew member knows what it is.
fryler87 Posted April 19, 2004 Posted April 19, 2004 The Beast Documentary film in 3D!!! Heh...cool, but how would you be able to incorporate the moving seats in the movie? Action FX Theater would make one HELL of a way to have POVs.
crosscountry4891 Posted April 20, 2004 Posted April 20, 2004 Ahhh...I remember Days of Thunder. That was an awesome FX ride. I always liked it when you went into the pit stop and they changed the tires. I have no clue how I remembered that...
coasterrz Posted April 20, 2004 Posted April 20, 2004 Do they have the name of the movie posted where the line for the two sides split? In years past, they have had a sign on the right side (the line for the non 3D side) that had the name and logo of the movie that was coming along with the line "Coming in Summer." I haven`t riden Spongebob 3D this year so I don`t know if they have a sign up. From riding The Racer it would appear they do, but it might just be the same one from last year.
TopThrillDragster Posted April 20, 2004 Posted April 20, 2004 Yeah that was fun I aso liked James Bond. They where both really fun rides.
Zechtoid_04 Posted April 21, 2004 Posted April 21, 2004 just so every one knows it is not going to be days of thunder but something different. i don't know what but it is different
fryler87 Posted April 22, 2004 Posted April 22, 2004 All I remember from Days of Thunder was at the end when the hot chicks climbed onto your car!!! The funnier thing is, I was about 10 years old when I first "rode" that ride. -->
adbort Posted April 22, 2004 Posted April 22, 2004 Anyone know what other Paramount Parks are showing in the non Sponge-Bob side this year?
Coaster-King Posted April 22, 2004 Posted April 22, 2004 I hope that it is something cool and fun!!!!!
DownUnder Thunder Posted April 22, 2004 Posted April 22, 2004 Not sure if Paramount's Kings Island will be adding Days of Thunder, but over here at Paramount's Great America we've begun prepping our 2D theater for it's return. The film is currently on order and we hope to have it installed and operating by Memorial Day weekend latest. We're currently working on redoing all the seats. Many of them made a loud noise during the film. Does PKI have this problem with their seats making loud noises during the film? Either way, I'm glad to see it make it's return.
coasterrz Posted April 22, 2004 Posted April 22, 2004 I seriously hope that Days of Thunder makes its return to PKI this season! The only thing I remember from the ride was the car being jacked up in the pits, and the car shaking when it was in victory lane from everyone climbing and slapping the car. I think that with the rise in popularity of Nascar in tha past couple of seasons, and the fact that the parks are now going for a more Hollywood theme, this is a perfect movie to bring back. Not to mention that the movie was last in the park seven years ago. I would be happy if it returned. I also wouldn`t mind seeing the Dinosaur Island movie I saw at SFKK back in 1996. It will be interesting to see if PKI follows what PGA is installing in side B!

adbort Posted April 22, 2004 Posted April 22, 2004 Is this true? Is Days of Thunder really returning to Action Theater this year? And if so, wouldn't this cause confusion since we already have a ride called Days of Thunder?
adbort Posted April 22, 2004 Posted April 22, 2004 Does PKI have this problem with their seats making loud noises during the film? Either way, I'm glad to see it make it's return. Yes the seats sometimes do make loud noises. I'm not really what really cases it but I have heard seats make nosies in my 2 season's of working at Action FX Theater.
coasterbilly Posted April 23, 2004 Posted April 23, 2004 that's too sweet if Days of Thunder returns. Too bad i won't be able to hit PKI and try it out if they do this. Perfect time to bring back a good movie from Paramount to the theatre.
DeliriumDreamer Posted April 24, 2004 Posted April 24, 2004 Im going on my gut feeling, Days of Thunder.... Tiny Oh, no... not Days of Thunder... they played that same movie for about three years straight, until we all got tired of that same old crackly film, and you always end up winning... Gotta be spongebob. I haven't seen any change yet.
TopThrillDragster Posted April 26, 2004 Posted April 26, 2004 That would be great if they bring it back. then they will have to rename DOT in Action Zone but they could do that very easy.
DegenRider Posted April 26, 2004 Author Posted April 26, 2004 No one pays attention to it. Most people call it Go carts.
Spongebob3-Dfreak Posted April 26, 2004 Posted April 26, 2004 I personally hope that they do add DOT to Side B. I have never seen it before and I have only heard good things about it. I've never seen the movie that goes with it so I think that it would be a good experience for everyone (including me). Spongebob is a good movie but this is the second year that it has been at AT. AT needs something that can appeal to audiences that tend to be older. A lot of the time we see a lot of younger people because of the nature of the ride. Side B needs to have a movie that older people, as well as younger people can ride, that way they have more than just one option.

DragonLord Posted April 27, 2004 Posted April 27, 2004 Days of Thunder would be sweet! Of course, I would like nothing better than Star Trek... but one can only hope for a Borg 4D flyer for the new coaster next year...

Sorry, I wasn't thinking... in that case, it'll probably be some new movie just like the last few years with smash factory,..etc.
