SIX History

Featured Replies

I think we can all be glad that Paramount never bought Cedar Fair. I can't imagine what a mess the CF parks would be in today if that had gone through.

But that was a very different Paramount Parks, back in the 2000 time frame.

Now, what if Cedar Fair had bought Six Flags instead of buying Paramount Parks? That also almost happened, in 2005.

Who would own Kings Island now? Who would own SeaWorld Entertainment? When would Dick Kinzel have retired? What of Blackstone? Apollo? Would Jack Falfas now run Cedar Flags or Six Fair? The mind boggles.

Now, what if Cedar Fair had bought Six Flags?

Any chance that could still happen? I think it'd be cool but it seems like a pretty big idea. And it would basically turn Cedar Fair into a monopoly.

It almost happened as SIX emerged from bankruptcy. Right now, SIX is perceived by most as the stronger of the two. Then again, it was tiny Premier Parks that gobbled up much larger Six Flags last time...which didn't end well.

Monopoly? The two companies really have few locations where they compete.
