The Interpreter
Zunanjaro: Drop of Doom, an INTAMIN ride, to be attached to Kingda Ka, an INTAMIN ride, shares something with Kings Island's Drop Tower, an INTAMIN ride. It will not be opening when it was expected to. Zumanjaro, also known as Big Droppy Thing here, was expected to open Memorial Day Weekend. Due to a very difficult winter, with virtually unprecedented snows, high winds and bitter cold, an opening sometime in June is expected. And much to the sadness of at least one poster here, Rolling Thunder also did not open with the park this year. Six Flags Great Adventure, New Jersey's Finest Theme Park, is the world's largest seasonal theme park and features its world famous Safari; the tallest and fastest roller coaster in North America; and is located in beautiful Jackson, New Jersey. VekomaRulz
I'm looking forward to both Zumanjaro and Kingda Ka being open. It will really help spread out the crowds more with both rides open and it will be nice to be able to ride Kingda Ka again.
Diamondback96
I still don't understand why they "had" to remove Rolling Thunder. Was it because of declining ridership?
VekomaRulz
That was one of the reasons. A lot of the time they would only run 1 side and even then the only reason it ever had a line was because of the capacity. Dispatches were very slow with it taking as long as 3 - 4 minutes to dispatch a single train because they had to check to make sure everyone had their belts buckled then checked the buzz bars.
The Interpreter
Really? As a PR type here would note, ridership figures tend to say otherwise. I know I have stood on line hundreds of hours for that glorious coaster over many, many seasons. There were also other factors that, when reviewed carefully, would lead to Rolling Thunder's razing.
