IndyGuy4KI
I was very excited to get the 2015 season started. My son Korbin had hit the 54" mark in 2014 and has ridden all the coasters at this point and he was excited to join me for opening day as well. I set the alarm clock for 5:00 AM so we can be heading out the door by 5:30 AM. I invited my second cousin along who is a season pass holder as well. My second cousin Kylee got at my house about 5:20 and we got on the road. We made it to Frisch's for the 3rd annual meetup at about 7:20 AM. It is exactly a 2 hrs drive, driveway to driveway to Kings Island. I was not sure who all was going to show up for the meetup thread did not have a whole lot of people in it. People will have to point themselves out and add if I missed you. When we got there Beastie1980 and Beastie1980Mom was already there, MDMC01, Nochickens, Mrsnochickens, Lorax, Princess Sparkles, Thrill_Biscuit, XGatorHead, Malem, and several others that I don't remember and a few that came in as some of us were leaving all showed up.We all had great conversations about what our expectations of the day would be and crowd sizes and such. I wanted to get over to the park as soon as the tolls opened up for I needed to get Korbins season pass processed. I upgraded him from a Gold to Platinum so we can go to Coaster Mania. We got into the parking lot pretty quick and luckily there was not much of a line for season pass processing so we got though there quickly, we meet back up with some of the group and waited for the park to open for the 2015 season. Korbin is excited about his new pass! Our first stop was Woodstock Gliders. Here is nochickens and mrs.nochickens who I think got the first cycle of the season. If that is the case, I think we got 4th. Most people were running over to Banshee! 1Lillbug riding as well. (Glasses and Hat) We finally had our turn and was a pretty good. I would say I sort of got a snap one time, but not sure what I did to do it and could not duplicate it again. Got a few more pics as we got off. They spruced this area very nice. Next up, Diamondback! I was so ready to ride DB. By this point it was only 9:50 and the queue was already 1/3 full. Kylee and Korbin in line for the one and only DB! Picture perfect! 2 trains and busy queue before the GP has even been realeased. 230' they go! Next we head towards The Beast. The first queue house is full so we have some time to get on it. I got a shot of DB while in line. Time to get on the one and only, The Beast. It is running great again this season by the way. I saw some track work past the break shed, but running great! My cousin Chris and his son Mason (Yes just like Mason Ohio, but named after my grandfather) got to the park and we rode BLSC, it went down as about half way through the queue, most people left and we were on the bridge over the last drop when they got it running again. We might have lost 10 minutes verses waiting behind everyone in the queue. Afterwards I notice the first vehicle parked in the park. I can not say I am a fan of this. I go to the park to get away from seeing commercials and everyday reality. I don't want to see car dealership advertisement. I got to say this made me a a little upset to see this. There is a truck in Coney Mall. Not sure about anywhere else in the park. Next up a few pics of Vortex. We then Headed to Banshee for my cousin had yet to ride it. When we got over there it was down, we waited maybe 10 minutes and it was back up. When they opened the line there were only 2 switchbacks open. We got on in about 10 minutes! Awesome ride. We then headed over and got a ride in on The Bat. It actually had as long of a queue as Banshee. Once we got into the station it looks like they ran the power and network for one of the TV's in the station, but never installed it? We then hit up Adventure Express, The Racer, Blue Side. Funny thing is, red side takes off and leaves the blue side on the first drop, but the second drop the blue side comes back takes off away from Red and smokes the race by like 5 train lengths. Several people noticed that besides me at different times of the day, so it was not just me. We then went and rode Dodgems. I think this is Korbins favorite flat. We then decided to ride Vortex. There was this man in a chicken hat standing at the entrance to the stairs. Not sure what he was doing, but he was like a statue? Arrow trains are so cool! In Line to ride Kylee and Korbin then Chris and Mason! Next up with the repainted Shake Rattle & Roll! Pretty! The new queue line has you much closer to Vortex's track than I remember! I took a pick of the train sitting on the break run, I screamed for them to wave, but only got the person in 7-1 to wave which means the train had to hear me ask to wave for the pic. LOL! We then went to go ride DB, but it had a full queue and then some. I thought, hey lets go to Surf Dog. So we are in line there and I was watching it and I have ridden it enough I noticed as it was ending it's cycle I said out loud "oh no!" Everyone with me was like what. I said "It is going to valley." Sure enough, it did exactly what I was thinking was going to happen. We then went over to Woodstock Express and that was the last coaster for the night. By this time it was getting to be 7:30 so we were hungry. We decided to head to the Chicken Shack in AZ. Walked by the chickens and 1lillbug on the way and chatted with them for about 10 minutes and then got in line. We waited 45 minutes to get food in there. It is evident that the meal deals are working. The food was good when we got it. But efficiency needs to be look at. I know it is not always the workers, you have people that have been standing there 10 minutes waiting to order and then act like they don't know what they want when they finally are asked. We didn't want Woodstock Express being our last ride of the day, so we got in line for Delirium and by the time we got or ride in, said our good-bye's got to the car and talked to another KIC member and got loaded the fireworks were going off. A great opening day at the park! Thanks KI for making it a memorable one!

purdude86
Looks like you had a great time and the improvements I've seen in the pictures everywhere look great. I was very tempted to get some people to go on Saturday but had to work third shift Friday so probably would have crashed midday.
KIfan73
Thanks for posting! I did also want to mention that new cars being parked inside Kings Island has a significant historical precedence.
