fryler87
Went down to the park with my friends yesterday for Nights of Fire. A few things I noticed: Flight of Fear was totally dark. The colored "effect" lights that I usually notice on were apparently off. Adventure Express received some new effect lighting at the end, which I appreciated. Smooth ride, still as snappy as always. Recar was running quite smoothly. Beast's line was longer than normal, and I was kind of excited to see what the 25th anniversary gifts were. As people have said before, it's difficult to hear the audio on the way up the lift hill. I was impressed with the signs, I thought they added quite the rustic touch. Noticed the station lighting - thought it was pretty creative. I look forward to experiencing that coaster at night. Great documentary! Fireworks were ho-hum. I sure as hell enjoyed it when they shot them off from the sides of the Eiffel Tower. Note to the park - find a way to prevent burning ashes from falling from the tower onto International Street...I didn't find this very safe. Man were there a lot of people there. Music added a pleasant touch to the experience. Traffic was one thing and one thing only - HELL. Spent an hour and three minutes sitting in bumper to bumper traffic. Note to self - next year, watch fireworks FROM parking lot.
DragonLord
Two things: First off, we can't keep the burning ash from falling on the street if the wind is blowing it that way. The only thing that could have been done would have been to try and push everyone that close back some more, which wouldn't have been a easy to do. We try to judge where and how things will fall, hence the roped off areas. It's hard to work well with Mother Nature though. Second thing: You can watch the fire works from the Kroger parking lot in Kings Mills or anywhere else you can see the Tower. If you can see the Tower pretty well, then you can see the fire works. I plan on going to the Kroger store tonight to watch. Traffic can get pretty bad, but almost all of that was due to the traffic on the Drive stopping to watch. We did have Mason officers on both sides of the Drive controlling the lights, so we are doing our best. As long as you enjoyed them, then we did a great job! Kudos to the employees who had to work doubles and come in early today! Troopers all of you!

StXBomber
At the top of the last tunnel (the anti-climactic one), there are new lights. Ride at night for best effect.
DeliriumDreamer
I noticed when I rode, that the skeleton leaning forward, and the spears pointing from the wall and ceiling were not working. I know the fog hasn't worked for a while, but did they change this as well?
PKI_Diana
I thought both nights went pretty well, security was definitely very friendly to me on both nights, although there was some confusion between the ride dept and security about when exactly I was to close the carousel. I worked all day on both days on carousel, and the evenings at train and carousel (although when it closed, it was my job to close The Racer line (GR), the tique line (GR), and then help with tiques cleaning). I was EXTREMELY disappointed that the waterfall off the tower didn't work either night (That I saw). The fireworks buddies (who stole my ride) for the last three days, said that saturday's show didn't work because of their error, but on Sunday it was too windy to do the waterfall (maybe they heard about all the ash everywhere), hence why we closed the area off super earlier than saturday night. Still....I enjoyed the show, even though I was expecting more to be off the tower than what actually occured....like last year....There is always next year. Hopefully my ride opens back up today, I miss it, cause all the time listening to the band organ at the carousel is causing me to think of lyrics to it.... and thats not good, cause I definately CANNOT carry a tune. --Di
Shman
You are correct the waterfall effect did not go either night. There was actually quite a few things that were cut out of the show on Sun. night due to the high winds. They actually set up test shells from the back sight every 15 minutes after 9:00 and every 5 minutes after 9:45 to test how the wind was effecting the shells. Around 9:45 there were winds of 20+ MPH crossing the park which made the call to pull the plug on some of the tower effects. (Hense the minute or so of nothing in the middle of the show). Everything that was cut was done so for the saftey of the guests and the surrounding park attractions, the "fallout" from the waterfall and other effects could have very well shifted towards the guests and other areas if they would have gone off. But I think it was a very good desison by the park to go ahead and do the show instead of tring to postpone it until the wind died down. PKI_Diana
I wasn't arguing against it, just disappointed, that's all. It was still a good show, different from the daily show in the summer, and that's always a plus. I always get tired of hearing Titanic and Indiana Jones every night on the Tower so the change was welcomed.
SOB_TOM
It was bad enough the parachutes on Sat were landing past Timberwolf and into North Parking. Thanks for the comment on the music. We worked our tails off to make sure everything ran as smooth as possible, and to make the show the best we could.
teenageninja
There was a lot of confusion, no one at AT or Vortex knew when we were supposed to close our line, where we woudl have it cycled off close to 8, close line at 8, or see how long our line was at 8 and close it to cycle off before 9. Rides told us the last choice, than Security calls at 8, when we have no extra, and tells us to close line. Too bad no one at all knew what was going on lol. dxrunner
I personally love the parashute fire works... and in my visits to PKI on the 3rd or 4th...I have yet to see a waterfall go off from the tower, I was disappointed but at least i understood the reasoning. The parachutes landed in the parking lot??? Wow they went real far
