Other than they are now 27 staff members short is appears they did exactly what they were supposed to do.

I realize transportation can be an issue, but we keep hearing about record unemployment levels for teens but we have to import foreign workers for a relatively fun job with some nice perks? I have noticed what appears to be a lot of Eastern European workers up at CP. Some very attractive as well.

They was on work visas. As long as they were working, they was aloud to stay

Work Visa is revoked if they are found to be breaking company rules.  This is true for any corporations.  They have to leave the US immediately once their employment is terminated.  There is no exception.  The same rule apply for company sponsoring employees without resident visa.  I have seen many get sent back because they get arrested or stealing from the company.

Teens don't really want to work. So they apply at jobs and submit extremely limited availability, then wonder why they don't get hours.

My oldest has been working and schooling since earlier this year. Even buyin his own first car. Very proud of him.

I worked my tail off when I was 18 working at Carowinds. I wasn't working for the money either, that was just a benefit. I still miss working 13 hour days, 60 plus hours a week at Carowinds. I miss the paychecks even more since I have bills to pay instead of just spending the money having only gas and food to pay for.

And I am not one of those some teens, even though I scheduled off next Wednesday and Thursday, I somehow am only working two closing shifts... interesting!

Then in my family, I have an anomoly. There's 3 that will take any job offered but only one con man, the ratio is off, scewing the Bell curve of teen's not wanting to work.

We've taken in Irish work visa people, but never had one lose their job. What happens? Do they have two weeks to get out of the country, or what?

It depends on the origination country. If your group is politically powerful you get to stay, if not you got to go. Not making a judgement, thats just the way things work here, always have and always will.

I'm sure the Charlotte or Ft. Mill police deal with underage drinkers running from the cops regularly.  This was unusal in that there were a lot of them and they're foreign.  I am not too concerned for Cedar Fair or Carrowinds.  If it happened at a university, we wouldn't blame the school.  It's just an expectation that sometimes people underage will drink and sometimes they will freakout and run.  It happens. 

 

On another note, I would rather see locals fill those positions, even if it means paying a little more like Kings Island had to do this year.  Unlike Sandusky, I expect there to be enough people in the Charlotte area to fill the positions.

Having worked at three theme parks, I can honestly say if everyone that drank underage were to get caught, you might have enough staffing for a food stand to be open.

I'm 29 and have never drunk a drop of alcohol in my life. I simply don't understand the attraction of ingesting a mind-altering substance for any reason. I prefer to be in full control of my mental faculties at all times.

Although the laws vary by country in most of Europe the full legal during age is 18 and in many cases beer and wine is 16 or younger depending on the circumstance. This does not excuse breaking our laws but just some added cultural context.

I drank way before I turned 21.....but these folks broke the law, publicly. They aren't US Citizens....they were caught and even admitted to it. They signed contracts to work here....they broke the law....they have to leave. Plain and simple.

Yes, and when they changed it to 21, the 19 and olders got grandfathered in to the 6% alchohol. I suddenly had a lot of friends I didn't want.
