Hong Kong Disney expansion

Hong Kong Disneyland announced expansion plans for over the next 7 years. Looks like some good additions including a Frozen themed land and a major Avengers attraction taking up the space of the old Autopia. Talks about turning Buzz Lightyear ride into a Marvel one and from concept art looks like it will be Ant-Man themed.

The most interesting aspect is that it appears they will be putting in a new castle, a first for any Disney park. Originally had a replica of the one from Disneyland in California, which s pretty small. And now with Shanghai's park having the largest one it seems Hong Kong wants a bigger castle/icon for their park.

The other Autopias will soon follow.  I know in Florida, it takes up a major hunk of TL, costs a lot to operate, produces noxious fumes all day, CMs hate working it and its not exactly relevant anymore.  I'm sure some of that cash infusion the Board just gave WDW could go to re-theming this as an Avengers area.

Yea I'd be perfectly happy to see Autopia removed there and get an expansion of Tomorrowland in that spot. As you mentioned it takes up a lot of space and produces lots of fumes, plus the ride itself there isn't that great. Kind of a dull layout, especially compared to the other Autopias. Removing it would open up a lot of area for them to work with. Could easily put in another large E-ticket or a couple C/D ticket attractions as well shops and other stuff. Would like to see Tomorrowland expanded there versus Fantasyland as I feel it is such a small space and the open space from Autopia really breaks up it's visual theming to me.

Autopia at Disneyland(USA) = Les Taxis at KI.

Down sizing Autopia would be a better option, that way Disneyland could remove the unused Peoplemover track if they shorten the Monorail. Also remember that the Nemo Submarine Voyage runs under all of the mentioned rides.

However my idea would open a large area for either Tomorrowland or Fanstayland. I also suggest making Autopia electric instead of gasoline.

I'm talking more about the ones at WDW not DL. Think those ones are pretty nice, but yea I'd make them electric as well.

Unless Disney can get Universal Orlando to agree to give up the Marvel rights it is not possible to build Avengers at WDW.

If not Marvel, there are plenty of Mouse owned properties that the area can be transformed into.  For example, a Guardians re-theme would fit in quite well in Tomorrowland. Outside of Jungle, Autopia takes up the second most amount of land at the MK. I know the purists will decry turning any Disney park into a giant ad for its movies, but Walt used Disneyland for the same exact purpose-to promote his movies and later TV shows.
