fryoj Posted June 5, 2019 Posted June 5, 2019 Are the timers on the search feature really necessary? As they are set up, the search on this site is almost useless, or at least frustratingly slow. Its really evident when a search returns multiple pages of results and you scroll down to click on the second page and instead get hit with a "please wait". You hit the back to go to the first page, and it resets the timer again. It just makes it hard to find content you know exists on the site. 1 Quote
Phantom Theater Posted June 5, 2019 Posted June 5, 2019 It has been like that since I have been a member here! It’s annoying and I’m not sure if it’s still necessary? I always thought it was something older forums did. I just had a lot of trouble trying to find a thread about Planet Snoopy haha. 2 Quote
fryoj Posted June 5, 2019 Author Posted June 5, 2019 Yeah I'm looking for pics of when they replaced some of the rails on The Bat and theres 50 different ways I can phrase the search including using the Flight Deck name, so it's a real mess. Quote
IndyGuy4KI Posted June 5, 2019 Posted June 5, 2019 Searching uses a lot of server resources. It is set that way to not slow down the site. We will look to see if we can modify its current configuration. 1 Quote

malem Posted June 5, 2019 Posted June 5, 2019 It was set to allow a search every 20 seconds; we changed it to instead allow logged in users to search every 2 seconds. If you're logged out, you still have to wait 20 seconds between searches. Let me know if there are still any issues with the search function. Quote

TombRaiderFTW Posted June 5, 2019 Posted June 5, 2019 Yes, thank you! I don't do a ton of searching, but that 20-second limit was occasionally problematic. Quote
