malem Posted June 13, 2019 Posted June 13, 2019 GateKeeper is one of the first coasters to shut down for high winds, but sudden gusts are hard to predict on the lake. Hopefully there were no nervous riders on board. Maintenance will have a long night. 1 Quote
BoddaH1994 Posted June 13, 2019 Posted June 13, 2019 Last time this happened (that I know of) was during initial testing before it opened. They needed to take the train apart with a crane. Let’s hope that’s not the case here. 1 Quote
malem Posted June 13, 2019 Posted June 13, 2019 When Millennium Force valleyed without riders a few years back, the train was disassembled to get it back to the station. The big challenge here will be the massive size of GateKeeper's trains. Taking the train apart might be easier than winching it all the way from the turnaround. Quote

diamondbackfanatic Posted June 13, 2019 Posted June 13, 2019 Park spokesperson Tony Clark released the following statement to WKYC Thursday morning: “At approximately 9:30 p.m. last night, a train on the GateKeeper roller coaster did not complete its full circuit due to weather conditions at the time. The train came to a stop on a section of track near the main entrance. The ride’s safety systems engaged as designed and an additional train was stopped on the lift hill. Guests in both trains were escorted safely from the ride.” here is a link to one of the articles. it's very short and to the point. https://www.wkyc.com/article/entertainment/places/cedar-point/video-shows-cedar-points-GateKeeper-roller-coaster-getting-stuck-mid-ride/95-9d116e98-8112-491b-9212-855e47f11adb Quote
Cedar Fair Fanboy Posted June 14, 2019 Posted June 14, 2019 Calling Cedar Point. Put heavy train in GateKeeper next time. Quote
FoF96" Posted June 14, 2019 Posted June 14, 2019 I wonder if it ever opened today, I looked online at wait times and it said it was closed but that didn’t necessarily mean anything because Dragster was also closed. Quote
malem Posted June 14, 2019 Posted June 14, 2019 It didn't operate today. In fact, the train on the lift is still there at last report. Considering today's inclement weather, sending that one might have left them with another train to remove via crane. They did get the valleyed train off the course. (Photo credit: Brett) 3 Quote
