Gene Staples is building a nice little chain of parks.

GRAND ISLAND, N.Y. — The shuttered Fantasy Island amusement park may soon find new life, thanks to the same Chicago investor who recently revived an Indiana amusement park.

Chicago investor Gene Staples is negotiating with Store Capital Real Estate Investment Trust Co. of Scottsdale, Arizona, for a long-term lease for the closed amusement park at 2400 Grand Island Blvd., Grand Island.

10 minutes from my house. The property is now in a sorry state after some summer vandalism last year. Even before that, Apex had let the park deteriorate significantly over the last few years. Silver Comet is a decent CCI, but there is not much else to work with. It'll be interesting to see how this goes.

Gene seems to find diamonds in the rough with used rides and refurbs them. He might be able to go on a used ride spending spree and build this and Clementon up!
