June 20, 20233 yr Carowinds' 50 Nights of Fire drone and fireworks debuted this past weekend and as you'd expect it has a number of similarities to Fun, Fireworks and Fifty at KI. In particular, I was struck by the use of the Enchanted Voyage song "Cartoon Friends" ("Those happy friends who live in my TV") during 50 Nights of Fire's segment about characters at the park. I'm less familiar with the history of Carowinds but was there ever an attraction there that used the Enchanted Voyage song?
June 20, 20233 yr Here is a video of Carowinds’ 50 Nights of Fire. Overall, it is a cool show, but I definitely prefer Fun, Fireworks, and Fifty to it. I also may prefer Adventure Awaits. What really elevates Kings Island’s fireworks shows is the lighting and effects on International Street. Unfortunately, Carowinds does not have that.
June 20, 20233 yr It's different seeing things live, but this just seems like a copy/paste of KI's FFF. However, it's half the length of FFF, which makes the drone portion much more a part of the show. KI was unique with the Enchanted Voyage, but it was a way to pay tribute to HB at Carowinds. It will be interesting to see how they adapt the show for WOF. And I wish they had used someone else for the voice over. She gets on my nerves at Winterfest. LOL
June 20, 20233 yr Author I figured there would be some songs from Carowinds history that would be unique to the park and strike a chord of recognition for locals. Cartoon Friends does evoke HB for Kings Island fans but I wasn't sure if it does the same for Carowinds fans. Also, is that the Maestro's laugh from Phantom Theater during the Scarowinds segment? I do appreciate the acknowledgement of the Parmount era with the Top Gun segment. Fun, Fireworks and Fifty completely sidestepped anything to do with Paramount.
June 21, 20233 yr Maybe the Paramount years could be a theme for a future fireworks show at Kings Island. Maybe one year the fireworks show could be called The Royale Finale Presents: The Magic of the Movies.
