DonHelbig Posted Saturday at 03:14 PM Posted Saturday at 03:14 PM A new era is on the way for one of the Midwest’s best-known amusement parks. Six Flags St. Louis will be renamed Mid-America by Enchanted Parks, signaling a major shift in identity as the park moves into its next chapter under future operator Enchanted Parks. https://themeparksbydon.com/mid-america-by-enchanted-parks-st-louis/ Quote
beastfan11 Posted Saturday at 04:08 PM Posted Saturday at 04:08 PM Not really loving the name. Happy to see the park get some attention, though. 1 Quote
OverlandTaxis30 Posted Sunday at 01:22 PM Posted Sunday at 01:22 PM Just an FYI, Six Flags St. Louis originally opened as Six Flags over Mid-America. Though just having the name Mid-America doesn’t really make sense without having more to that. Maybe having a name like “Worlds of Mid-America.” That kind of sounds like a good name and it help ties it to Worlds of Fun. Or maybe just name it “Lands of Mid-America.” Either way, it would be nice to have the park return to it’s original concept of being themed to the countries who once occupied the area. 2 Quote
DoomPlague Posted Sunday at 05:34 PM Posted Sunday at 05:34 PM "Is this park Great?" "Nah, that's near Chicago. This park is Mid" How about: "Gateway Enchanted Park" or "River City Enchanted Park" or... "The American Midway" Quote
Losantiville Mining Co. Posted yesterday at 01:45 AM Posted yesterday at 01:45 AM I think they could've just gone with "Enchanted Mid-America" instead of wholly shoving Enchanted Parks into the name. They could also have gone with a possessive — the same thing that made both of the Six Flags names work — though I'm unsure what names would've worked best for that. Hopefully it could be an easy name change. The Six Flags Over Mid-America name is actually still visible on their train cars, though the "Over Mid-America" part is now painted to blend in with the background. Maybe someone can add that to the Theme Park Railroad History thread that's here on KIC. Whatever they do, I just hope they don't go with another AI logo like they did with the Enchanted Parks logo. The chain might refine their logos as they design 3D signage and such but I'd hate to see more AI right from the start. I also hope they keep the St. Louis Arch at the front gate. A logo that includes the arch and pays homage to the original SFOMA logo would be amazing! I'm curious about what vibes the new chain will go for as well. Will they go for an amusement park feel or a more magical theme park feel in their parks? Images from Don's article to show the arch and the original logo: 1 Quote
