Enchanted Voyager
Yet again the gods are frowning upon us gold pass holders. With a 90% chance of thunder storms tommrow the park will probally close early or not open at all. Yet anouther weekend without The Beast. CoastersRZ
The questions are: A. Will they even open the park? and B. Will they even bother opening IJST in such lousy weather tomorrow?
CoastersNSich
I plan to be there - hopefully the weather will be like last Friday. I might go and see the Ducks hockey game that night as well after doing IJST and a couple other things. Probably also say hi to Don Helbig (The Racer rider) who is the team's spokesman and broadcaster.
PKIVortex
First of all why are they starting to close the park down just because of the thunder storms? Last Friday was the first time I ever heard of them doing that. I can understand because of the weather we had last weekend, but because of a storm. A thunderstorm could only last a few minutes, but could last a lot longer. I remember on a season pass night years ago when they used to be from 5pm till 11pm anyone remember that? They were some bad storms move in about 8pm and lasted for like an hour and half. And all the rides re-opened like 9:45pm. So is this a new thing that Paramount Parks is doing, closing the park completly because of storms? I know Bush Gardens used to to this. Back in '87 we took a trip to Florida and went to BGT and they shut the park down because of a storm, and about the time everyone was leaving, the sun came out. CoastersRZ
The reason that PKI would close, or not even open tomorrow, is because it is not supposed to be a quick, half an hour and its done storm. Instead, it is supposed to rain pretty much all Friday evening and night. Also, since the park is only open for Gold Pass holders, there probably will not be a lot of people there, which means not a lot of people buying food, pplaying games and buying merchandise. That means the park will be losing money by staying open. While it would be nice to say that is not how things are, PKI is a business, and they are aware of their bottom line. Besides, wouldn`t we rather see them close early on a bad weather day, save money and be able to invest it in future additions and expansions? FOF/Z 4-ever
Last I heard, KI will be open all weekend. They wont keep it close down for storms, but for cold weather, they will. IF anything, depending how late it is and how bad its storming, they may close it down early. They normally wont close the park early unless it has only an hour left and no chance of the wetather clearing up. And yes, the park has closed early before due to weather and storms. It happens almost every year in the spring and fall at least once.
