I doubt its going to happen, and it has nothing to do with the park, its all politcis. In the past, Parmouount has made many movies about the Chinese Goverment. The Chinise goverment and the People's Army took this as an insult, so i doubt they will let them open one.

"The Chinesse army took it as an insult" I was insulted when I saw footage on Tinamen Square, I'm insulted that communism still exists. To H**l with the "peoples" republic of china, the people dont seem to like being persecuted.

Moore, there is no link, I dont really think I new paramount park could compete with a disney park. Why is Paramount going to make a new park when their was possiblity of selling them about 6 months ago?

I really hope that doesnt become true. Paramount I dont really think could compete with Disney building one too in Hong Kong. I really wish theyd use that 1.5 billion to make improvements on all their other parks. My dad said that he heard Paramount wanted to build a new park in Palo Alto California is this true?

I read about it in past years that Paramount wasn't putting up all the money for the new park. It was a little like the Great Wolf Resorts partner deal.

It would be good for the parks here because all the research and development of new rides will be done and paid for and would likely make it's way here.

Two different Asian park proposals have been announced...one in Japan and one in China.

My understanding is that Paramount Parks is looking to put together deals in both of these projects that are a lot like the Disney/Oriental Land Company deal at Tokyo Disneyland. Where basically, another company would own and build the park, but Paramount Parks would have the management contract and earn licensing fees. It's sort of a "franchised" approach.

As far as competition with Disney in China, Disney's park is in Hong Kong...Paramount proposes to build a park on the mainland. China is a HUGE country, with a rapidly growing middle class--an ideal demographic for theme parks. Look at how many theme parks there are in the US...an evolving Chinese economy could certainly support several different parks. (I'm surprised no one has built a major park in India yet for the same reason...)

I hadn't heard anything about Palo Alto...could that possibly be Paramount Park's management contract of Bonafante Gardens in Gilroy?
