Skippy
Earlier this afternoon I brought it to Dave's (Extinct Attractions Club) attention that people would be interested in a historical documentary on the Paramount Parks and how they came to be! Here's the original emails: I know I already posted this on the message boards but I just wanted to find out directly from you the likely hood of this every happening. Would you ever do a little number on my home park, Paramount's Kings Island! I know there's a market for this because on the Paramount Parks message boards I post on, lately all I've been seeing are posts on how people wish their was documentaries on the parks and their rides! If your looking for a ride to do a documentary on, well Paramount's Kings Island has one that has been four different rides over the years! It's been Enchanted Voyage 1972 – 1983 (a float-through dark ride with all the Hanna-Barbera characters), Smurf's Enchanted Voyage 1984 – 1991(a float-through dark ride with the smurfs), Phantom's Theater 1992 – 2002 (a Haunted Mansion type dark ride where you travel through a haunted theater on omnimovers), and it currently is Scooby-Doo and the Haunted Castle 2003 – present(a Buzz Light-year type dark ride where you travel through a haunted castle with Scooby and the gang zapping ghosts in omnimovers)! You could also have a documentary on all the Paramount Parks and how they came to be (look it up, its a very interesting story!) Or maybe just the Hanna-Barbera Lands as they are all extinct attractions now that they have been replaced by Nickelodeon Central areas! Please consider making a documentary about the Paramount Parks chain or the Enchanted Voyage ride, this would make my day and many other people who I know would do anything for this! Thanks for taking the time to read this and please respond back! Wonderful I would love to look into it. Do you have any film, video, stills and or know the names or anyone involved in these parks? Thank you, Dave Oneal "you are only limited by what you think you can achieve" www.extinct-attractions-club.com What does all this mean? Well, Dave makes professional historical documentaries on theme parks and theme park rides and then sells them on DVDs for charity. Check out www.extinct-attractions-club.com to view the collection of DVDs he has produced so far and to watch video previews! We have now been offered the oppratunity to have a documentary made on the Paramount Parks and maybe even some extinct rides! So email him back at OLDTHEMEPARKS@aol.com if you would like to contribute to this DVD! Also, Dave's a trading man so if you contibute any footage or images, you will recieve a free copy when it is finished! Please share all information or media you may have on these parks and if you know anyone involved in these parks or rides, please share them with Dave so that he may interview them for the documentary. Thanks!

Skippy
Thats great to hear Ryan! Now just start sending him anything you've got and spread the word that he's looking for information, pictures, videos, and any people from Taft, KECO, or Paramount Parks that helped to create that which we all love! Note: Please make it clear what your sending and what park or ride it's for *UPDATE* So far I've sent Dave a link to Theme Park Timelines to give him a brief history lesson on the Paramount Parks, and I gave him Jack Rouse's email and web address so that he could contact him to schedule for an interview! (Click for info on Jack Rouse) Thats all he has so far So as you can see, he still needs information, lots of pictures/art & video, and more names of people who created the parks/attractions! Please help by sending anything you've got to the address I posted above, thank you!

Vortex
While I do have some old video of Kings Island and Winter Fest, I need a letter from Paramount Parks telling me that he can use the video. Paramount Parks still own the rights to all the video. They might still have the videos at Kings Island still in a box. Skippy
Who exactly should I have him contact to obtain the rights to use that footage and any official artwork he may want to use? Name? Phone number? Email address? Please reply ASAP!
FOF/Z 4-ever
My guess is that he would have to contact PR or GR at Kings Island. That would propably be the 1st step. From there, they should be able to tell them where to go next.
italianchef
As author of The Unofficial Guidebook to Paramount's Kings Island and a freelancer who has written about the park - I'd be honored to help in any way. Have a great day! Charles Infosino aka Italian Chef I was cleaning out bookshelves and found my copy of the PKI unofficial guide the other day... Are there any plans for an updated edition, or did sales warrant a revision? I bought the book at the park, but I also saw it later in the "Ohio interest" section at a B&N in Columbus. I also found a book on the Six Flags chain by Tim O'Brien published in 1996--talk about a book that needs a revision Joel
KIBeast
My unlce has some 8MM on-ride footage of The Racers. You know, long before that kind of thing was outlawed. My guess would be early '80's.

So I will be more than happy to share the video on the web unless Paramount Parks gives me the okay. P.S. If we have a winter meeting with a TV and DVD player I will bring the video. Skippy
Well, he used to have people donate to the club for just the charity, and then you would receive a complimentary DVD/s (the amount depending on how much you donate). So it wasn't considered selling and thats how he was getting away with it before. Although, now his organization is so large I don't know if he would still be able to get away with it. So yesterday I sent Paramount Parks an email explaining what this is and who we are, then asking permission to use any official video footage, artwork, and/or audio from the parks on this historic video documentary DVD. Hopefully either Dave or I will receive an reply back letting us know whether or not we can use anything coprighted or official! Keep checking back in this forum as I'll have the latest as it develops! BTW, has anyone actually sent Dave anything yet? Just curious. If they ever do, I'll promote the new book as much as possible. I know Mr. O'Brien and had the pleasure of meeting him at PKI. He did revise his esteemed book back in 2003. Have a great weekend!
