coastergirl
Now that make perfect sense! Sorry for the confusion. Ususlly when people post about CP they mean Cedar Point!
RailRider
I hate seeing a good ride like Demon or Thunderbolt Express waste away to nothing because of the lack of care some parks and owners take towards coasters. Just like what happened to some of the great rides from Opryland down in Nashville and also like the Schreechin Eagle at Americana/LeSourdsville Lake. I just hate to see that happen to darn good rides.
Robert_Waring
Wow Robert . You have some awesome pictures in your album! It brought back so many memories for me. I really enjoyed it. Thanks for posting it No problem, I'm glad you got a kick out of it. It's just a hobby of mine putting that collection together. I added a few more photos tonight. Some old one of what I think is the Bavarian Beetle at Coney Island before it was MOVED to Kings Island in '72 or late '71. Also a few other new old photos including a cool one of Lion Country Safari showing the monorail cars with wildlife near it. It's an old postcard, but I thought it was pretty cool. CoastersRZ
Just to clarify a couple things. The Sky Ride and Bavarian Beetle that were at Coney Island are the same ones that were moved to Kings Island. The rides were not "sold" to Kings Island, because the owners of Coney Island back then (Taft Broadcasting) were the ones that were developing Kings Island. So they already owned the rides and just moved them to Kings Island, among other rides. Rides that they moved included the Carousel, the Kings Mills Log Flume (now Wild Thornberrys River Adventure), the Flying Eagles, the Scrambler, the Monster (although the last two rides have actually been replaced with other versions over the years) and several of the kiddie rides. Gordon Bombay
So did Taft eventually sell Coney off? I know Taft developed Kings Island because of Coney's flodding problems, but why didnt they keep up coney as well?
Guest TombraiderTy
Wow, you mean Scrambler and Monster aren't the original Scrambler and Monster?
Robert_Waring
Thanks for the heads up about the Bavarian Beetle and Sky Ride.
Stewart32
The SD... On one my earliest visits to (then) KI, we rode the deamon at least 20 consecutive times in a row. There was no line. Jump on, ride, jump off, run climb steps, jump on...etc.
Jasper
People who buy these coasters need to take better care of them.
