Why dont post count?

Recommended Posts

Yeah I agree. They should count. I mean Spammers get banned anyway, so its not a big deal. And honestly - there isn't THAT much to talk about that is only PKI related. This is a community site - so posts should count in all categories. I mean like I said especially in the offseason - there isn't anything about PKI to talk about.

And someone once said post count is a way of telling who the contributing members are. Well some people on this site make most of their posts in the community forums. And they are not spam. They are intelligent and contributing posts.

Why not make community forum posts count - and then just make a forum for games that doesn't count?

It's actually very simple:

Being a PKI community, our goal is to have open discussion about PKI. The community forums are there just so you can post about other things, but is a side of the forums that's definitely a byproduct.

Now, although the post count is entirely meaningless in your abilities, a lot of people take it seriously, so if you're going to have a high post count, it's because you're an asset to the PKI side of discussion (being a PKI board). This also prevents spamming.

All in all, it's the way it's always been and seems to work.

Does that clear things up?

I understand why you do it - but it kind of sucks that those of us that actually want to talk about things besides PKI don't count... Of course people like GigglingGreenGhost and Scooby Doo - where all they talk about is PKI - they are going to have massive post counts...

Agreed. Then again, we could go to another park fan site and have our posts count.
