Young Gunz
Someone said that the screens in the Festhaus weren't come back next year. Do you think that there will be a live show in there? If not, what are some other rumors?
WooferBearATL
Oh, it would be like a nice Christmas Present Arriving In the Spring if there was a new concentration on Live Entertainment.

RailRider
I just remember the Festhaus in its glory days and can only hope that it comes back to that form soon.
Outdoor Man
hey, speaking of Festhaus.... I am looking at that picture on the home page... that german couple feasting on the ledge above the entryway.... does anyone remember when they used to clank their mugs up and down until another character came out from the doors to fill the beer mugs... I just thought of that. Heck, it may still do that-- i haven't paid attention in years. If not, when did they stop doing that.
WooferBearATL
Yeah, when Festhaus opened, folk used to stop ther and just watch the characters on the clock go through their spiel.
HomerJay
Oh I wish they would take those TVs in Festhaus out for good! It used to be such an awesome place to take a break during the day and see a good show. I remember when they had ice skating shows in there (this is before the shows were in Paramount Theater), then they did a--pretty lame--Cheers show, an--even lamer--game show. But still, as cheesy as some of the shows there could be, they were so much better than watching the lame QTV or whatever it's called nowadays! By the way, if people tend to stay at the park all day, why do they have QTV on a loop that only seems to last an hour? I hate seeing the same lame music videos 20 times in one day!! Restore the Festhaus to its former glory!
Outdoor Man
I remember a while ago... Festhaus did a show during the summer called "Fire and Ice"... i actually think it got national attention. can anyone verify or speak to that? BoddaH1994
I have also heard rumors that the screens are gone for good. If they do install a live show, don't crucify the park if it's a little on the lame side next year. Just remember that the first year that the Paramount Theatre was renovated, they dried up the budget for the whole year doing that and didn't have much money for the actual show.. hence Magic of the Movies. The next year, they were able to utilize the venue and had one of the best shows PKI has offered. Just give this stuff time.
Captain Nemo
Festhaus is IMO the greatest not only for the food, but the atmosphere of the place. It has that warm feeling and the best part is, it's always nice and cool in there.
deidre1976
The last show I remember was like Phantom of the Opera
CoastersRZ
I can add that the movie screens in the Festhaus will not be returning next season. Jeff Siebert at the final ride of The Beast a couple weeks ago mentioned that they were gone, and the Festhaus will remain witht he festive banners for next season. The only difference from the look of the Festhaus the last couple of weekends of this season and next year will be that there will not be any holiday decorations up next spring. Other than that, the days of the old Festhaus are back. He didn`t mention anything about the possibility of live shows. He said what killed the live shows was peopleeating their food in there, and there was no room for people to sit who just wanted to watch the show. So it sounds unlikely that they will return a main stage production in there. But you never kknow.
WooferBearATL
See the purpose behind the people eating there was to create profit. <G> Anyone that has worked in the Festhaus of old, will be able to tell ya all about show rushes. (LOL, quite a joy.) But the thing is - the money that Festhaus brought in was SWEEEEETTTTTT!

I find it hard to believe that the Festhaus will be entertainmentless. I think all signs are pointing in the direction of having a live show there, so my official guess is that they'll have a small area for venue-style seating and have the tables around it. I'm not saying it would be THE answer to the seating problem, but it would be AN answer.
Joey
I just went to the Festhaus recently and noted that the screens were missing and a round stage was in the center, with a piano on it. I don't know if this will be just for WinterFest or not.
hauntguy
I could see the screens coming back... but not in the Festhaus! It would be really cool if PKI would use them during Fearfest '06...6...6... in different areas of the park and play horror movies all night! But I am glad the old Festhaus is back! Bring on the pints! -Hauntguy
CoastersRZ
Yes, that stage is being used for live entertainment in the WinterFesthaus at WinterFest. You can see an image of the WinterFesthaus here, taken during media day.
loganrun
keep up shows in the summer in here too: and Kings Island would be perfect: and just think with all this money there bringing in: wow they can do a lot of extras:
PKIWorker19
The screens at Festhaus will NOT be coming back next year as far as I know. They were the worst thing that has ever happened to that place and they were so hard to take care of. As most of you know, the fourth screen never worked and just was there, taking up space. I cannot comment fully on there being live entertainment next year because I do not know for sure what they are doing. I, personally, do not think that they will have anything in the Festhaus next year. Now the year after that, that is a possibility. I know that the Festhaus is staying the way that it is now (minus Christmas decorations and the stage in teh middle) next year. The red, green, and purple banners are staying as is the frontline and kitchen of Festhaus. That's all I got. Hope that helps.
A_Titanic_Mess
Now that the park has invested the money in refrigeration for the ice rink at Winterfest, they could bring an ice show back to the Festhaus. The park used the old Winterfest refrigeration for the staged ice shows. They sold the equipment once the ice show in the Paramount Theater went dark. Jasper
i have not seen those characters do anything but i have not reall paid attention because i usually only get to go to PKI about 3 times a year and i am just excited to be there and i want to ride everything. A_Titanic_Mess
The refrigeration unit for the Festhaus show came from the rink at Bolder Bumpers and not from the International Fountain. You should know this? That is correct, but the main chiller unit used for the Paramount Theater was from the fountain rink. The park still had it inside the refrigeration room next the the theater for several years after the ice show was dropped. The ice floor was ruined in the removal, but the chiller stayed. It may still be there as the only means of removal was to take a wall out, and then a crane would be needed to move it out. One of the outlet malls north of Cincinnati made inquiries into purchasing the refrigeration equipment several years back, but the cost of removal was too expensive. I was an ice guard on both rinks, and I remember the Boulder Bumpers rink and zam very well. Many of the guests never realized there was a rink available for the kids. WooferBearATL
but the main chiller unit used for the Paramount Theater LOL, Darn You! I actually forgot that! Titanic, I must say that I enjoy having another person on this board that can relate to the pre Paramount days.
CoastersRZ
CoasterKrazy, when I originally posted that link, it was directed toward the Feshaus image. When ZosoBeast and I added more images from opening night, that link was then changed to a different image. I have fixed the link, and it now links to the image of the round stage in the Festhaus. A_Titanic_Mess
LOL, Darn You! I actually forgot that! I had forgot about the Boulder Bumpers refrigeration unit going to Festhaus until you mentioned it. It was the big chiller from the fountain rink that went to Paramount Theater. The zamboni from Boulder Bumpers also went to Festhaus. Titanic, I must say that I enjoy having another person on this board that can relate to the pre Paramount days. Thanks...I like when someone from pre paramount is around to talk with. I was employeed pre paramount, and with paramount, so I have seen a lot over the years. Lets chat more often! I was employeed pre paramount, and with paramount, so I have seen a lot over the years. Well I was a Pre-Paramount person only. I was one of those "What do they think they're doing!" folk that cut and run as soon as Paramount took over. You have to admit, it seems like those that be in Paramount seem to be "embracing" some of the things of old. For me, that is very refreshing. Erosarrow05
What an illustrious club you two have formed... And i must say... way to stick by your company by taking the 'cut and run' method. and Fyi - you are most definately not the only "pre-paramount" people on here. Not by a loooooooooooooooooooooooooooong shot.

And i must say... way to stick by your company by taking the 'cut and run' method. Illustrious Club? Like Christmas lights on Swan Lake? Hmmmm, I like the sound of that. As far as "way to stick by your company?" I simply declined an offer to for re-employment due to the way I had seen the park going. I had put a great deal of time into the park and that was my choice. and Fyi - you are most definately not the only "pre-paramount" people on here. Not by a loooooooooooooooooooooooooooong shot. Did not say that there was no one else on the board that was Pre-Paramount. Said that it was nice to see someone on that was Pre-Paramount as well. Hmmm, try re-reading the post.
