StXsteven
If they took out Scooby Doo and the Christmas Caper, because it says christmas how did they have Santas Workshop? Also how was the workshop? What do you do there? How long were the lines for everything? Thanks, I'm just trying to figure out if its worth going or not. Thanks! I appreciate it. BoddaH1994
I'm not sure if they scrated the Christmas Caper idea or not, and even if they did, it would still be doubtful that they'd do it for that reason. If it did get scratched, it was probably due to budget or time constraints.
pkiboy
I went on friday and all the scary effects were turned off. But It still said SDATHC.
coasterville
Well, as somebody has mentioned, the crowds have not yet seemed to arrive at Winterfest. Therefore I didn't experience having to wait for anything. SDATHC was a walk on, White Christmas Express was a walk on, there was no line to sit on Santa's lap, and I had ressies for Santa's toy Factory. The longest I 'waited' was for the carousel and that was becuase a cycle started as I was joining the queue. (note, I declined the chance to sit on Santa's lap, but I did go inside to see what Santa's Workshop was all about) Santa's Worshop (not to be confused with Santa's Toy Factory) is merely your typcial Santa meet and greet where the kiddies sit on Santa's lap, and then get their photo taken. The area itself is meant to evoke feelings of old time department store Toylands, as you will see all sorts of classic toys on the shelves along the walls of the shop. (Santa's Toy Factory by the way is the big boradway style musical show in the Paramount Theater) I don't think Christas Caper was pulled merely becuase it had the word Christmas in the title. After all the selection of carols playing on the park sound system contained secular, Christian and Jewish winter holiday songs. I'm thinking that either time or money ran out before the SDATHC overlay got started, or perhaps since SDATHC appears to be a stock off the shelf Sally dark ride. (Its not only in Paramount Parks, ya know), maybe Sally has some clause about unauthorized alterations. I think we'll never know what happened to the Christmas Caper. As for if the evnet is worth your time, I'd say Winterfest is a highly subjective experience, so I would say go for it! The shows are great, the shopping unique, and the people there saturday all seemed to be having fun. I'm glad I went.

Alien Seed
Probably the same reason that you're not allowed to film movies in the theater. You're not supposed to get the experience unless you paid for it.
Legend Rider
Also very true, but what about the Ride footage people get on Carousels? I know for fact that its not for safety there... they wont lose the camera, and they wont break it, pictures would be nice for those of us who just can't make it to PKI this winter... BoddaH1994
They really just have to draw the line somewhere. From what I understand, Scooby has independent copywrites, so PKI is just protecting themselves. Plus there's always that small chance that you could drop your camera under the ride and cause damage to it.

CoastersRZ
It sounds to me like that park simply ran out of time when they were preparing for WinterFest. I would assume that next year, the park will close after the final weekend in October and begin preparations immediately. I think the first weekend they were opened in November cost them valuable time. I believe the lack of lights on the trees on International Street are also a result of lack of time. Interesting that they still plan on retheming it.
RollerNut
Paramount Parks owns the rights to Scooby-Doo and all of the Hanna-Barbera characters, the rights are never-ending. The reason the HB names and logos are being removed is that the HB ploy doesn't work like it used to. The ploy works with Nicktoons, which is why they are replacing HB. Scooby-Doo will be replaced someday, it is just a matter of time. Only the Disney character and Looney Tunes are timeless. Unless they keep making new Scooby-Doo movies, and "What's New, Scooby-Doo" shows, Scooby too will fade away.
CoastersRZ
Actually, I heard that Paramount Parks just has a license to use the HB chracters and that the license expires at the end of the 2009 season. That would be the real reason behind the change over to Nick, besides the obvious fact that kids know Nick shows more than they know HB shows these days.
