PKI Foodguy Posted March 26, 2006 Posted March 26, 2006 I just heard that Craig Ross has moved back to Charlotte to work on some special project and Tim Fisher (COO) has returned to KI as interim GM and Exec VP. Quote
SML828 Posted March 26, 2006 Posted March 26, 2006 Interesting news... I always liked Tim, so that wouldn't be a horrible thing for me... Quote
CoastersRZ Posted March 26, 2006 Posted March 26, 2006 Very interesting news indeed. I wonder what the special project would be? Quote
PKI Foodguy Posted March 26, 2006 Author Posted March 26, 2006 I always liked Tim too, but I like Craig as well. He's a very nice guy and his vision for the park was admirable. Quote
Shman Posted March 26, 2006 Posted March 26, 2006 This news is true......it was announced to department VPs early last week or so that Craig Ross is no longer the GM for PKI, he will still remain with Paramount however as he is the head of a comitee for "special ventures" or something like that (dealing with things like Bubby Gumps Resturants, etc.) Tim Fischer is returning to PKI to run the park in the interm.....my guess is until the park sale is final and the new company appoints a new GM. Craig will definalty be missed around the park....I always enjoyed the fact that he would get out of the office and come walk around the park and interact with not only guests but the seasonal associates as well. He is a very friendly guy and a great person to work with/for. But I also always enjoyed working with Tim....so at least it is not too extreme of a change. Quote
BoddaH1994 Posted March 26, 2006 Posted March 26, 2006 Craig always seemed to have a level head about the direction of the park, so I think he'll definitely be a great asset to the company on a corperate level. I haven't met this Tim Fisher guy, but from what you guys are saying, he seems like a good person. I look forward to seeing what the future holds for this park. Quote
CoastersRZ Posted March 26, 2006 Posted March 26, 2006 Tim was the GM of PKI from 1998 until Cragi Ross took over in 2002. It will be interesting to see what, if any changes Tim will bring to PKI before the sale is completed. Quote

What makes you so sure the new owners will change GMs? We're talking a sale of the entire company here, the internal structure isn't likely to be changed. Quote
rcmaster Posted March 26, 2006 Posted March 26, 2006 I definitely doubt that the new owners would change too many things about any of the Parks' structures. Just think, they would have to find 5 new VP/GM's, etc for each Park. This isn't like Six Flags selling one Park to Cedar Fair, this is a whole chain being sold. If changes are to be made, they probably would only be one here and one there type of thing, and not a whole wipeout of current management. There just isn't enough people to do that. As well, it isn't like any of the Parks are failing miserably. Each is very successful currently under the current management. Changes right away could possibly ruin the Parks. PCW and PKI were both in the top for seasonal parks attendance. Quote
Shman Posted March 27, 2006 Posted March 27, 2006 Let me clarify what I meant by "until the park sale is final and the new owners appoint a new GM" I say this because Tim Fisher is still maintaining his Corporate role, meaning that he is not just the GM of PKI, and I specifically remember hearing the phrase "for the interm" So whether Paramount Parks appoints a new GM, or the new owners appoint a new GM, either way I think that Tim is only going to be here for a little while. The Interpreter Posted March 27, 2006 Posted March 27, 2006 It is good to see Mr. Fisher back at Kings Island, even if only for a little while. He is a good man and a good manager. Quote
CoastersRZ Posted March 27, 2006 Posted March 27, 2006 Yes, I think the "interim" thing is just until Paramount Parks, or the new owners finds a person to fill the GM role at PKI. Essentially Tim Fischer is temporary acting GM, not unlike what Andy Kennedy was at UC. But that is a whole other story about UC and its oh so wonderful president... Quote
CoastersNSich Posted March 29, 2006 Posted March 29, 2006 I remember meeting Craig Ross while in line for Delirium on Media Day 2003. I told him how it was a great ride and investment, I think I rode it at least once before running into him. He'll be missed around the park. Quote
dionmarx Posted April 2, 2006 Posted April 2, 2006 Question, what did Craig do before he came to PKI?? Rick Quote
CoastersRZ Posted April 2, 2006 Posted April 2, 2006 I think he was in charge of food operations at Paramount`s Kings Dominion, perhaps? I know he got his start working at Paramount`s Kings Dominion back in 1975 when it opened as a seasonal associate in food services. Quote
shadow2k3 Posted April 4, 2006 Posted April 4, 2006 I don't know much about either, but I hope the switch is a smooth one. At least Fisher has experience at PKI, which is always a plus. ~A~ Quote
cewldre Posted April 4, 2006 Posted April 4, 2006 shadow, the switch was fine, it's already happened. I saw craig leave just last week and saw tim in craigs old office soon after. BTW shadow, I love Trigun. Vash the Stampede is just awesome. Quote
