Cedar Fair's Proposed Loan Terms

Featured Replies

I bet CBS is hoping for a Friday close :-)

Monday, the price is down $3M...Wednesday it's down $5M wink.gif

Still, all things considered, that was a pretty quick closure.

My bet is that the closing is set for Thursday or Friday.

Why do I say that?

Just a gut feeling from being partnered with a realestate paralegal for 7 years.

(me too, but I tend to underpromise and overdeliver...)

My guess is that Paramount Signs will substantially be removed by the end of July.

Do we have anyone that works in the paint shop here?

They should be able to fill us in on what's doin.

Does CF do their printing in house? If so I'm betting that new brochures and flyers have already been printed and ready for distribution.

One article said that Cedar Fair would have to pay Paramount a fee to remove the name. Strangely enough, the easiest area to convert would be Paramount Action Zone. The most difficult, Coney, with the Bubba Gump Shrimp Company and the Happy Days Dinner. The name "Paramount" has existed mainly as a moniker. The spirit of Kings Island has never faded!

It's actually the other way around. CF is deciding if they want to retain the Paramount licensing....which is not free...

As far as the current Paramount properties, there is a 10-year lease for the Paramount name. However, there is a buyout clause that Cedar Fair will investigate to see if it is a viable option. Kinzel said that parks such as Kings Island and Kings Dominion will keep their names. Cedar Fair will honor the remainder of their 4-year lease with Nickelodeon at the Paramount properties. After that, they will evaluate the possibility of renewing the contract.

I gathered that even though CBS owns the park, Paramount Parks still had a license for the Paramount name, much like the "see and be seen" contract with Hanna Barbera, now reduced to Action Theater and Scooby Doo Haunted Castle. The quote came from Thrill Network. The best thing Cedar Fair could do is to drop the Paramount name and all of the notions people have of the park under its reign. The return of the old logo would be a welcome addition, not for just KI...I repeat KI, but also KD, CW, and Carowinds. The parks are being kept together, and not sold piece by piece and "turning out the lights"...like Astroworld and Magic Mountain.

I agree that the Paramount moniker will dissapear AFTER this season. However, I think it would be totally premature to think that the Paramount logo and name will dissapear from the parks midseason. Most of the operations of Paramount`s Kings Island, and that includes the formal name of the park, will remain as is through the end of the season in October.

Trying to tell us something about WinterFest?

Well, it is no secret that Cedar Fair is not certain (or at least they weren`t during the initial teleconference) about the fate of WinterFest. They were not sure if it was going to occur THIS season. They said they would know if it was a go or no go by Labor Day weekend, after discussing it with current management at PPI and PKI. I have to think though that it will be a go, since they have been selling tickets for $9.99 since the start of the season. And I personally hope it continues under Cedar Fair stewardship!

I think we can all expected to see alot of Fairly Odd Changes in the remainder of this season, and next. I can't wait! thumbsupsmileyanim.gif
