Ride hight ristriction...

My kids are 6 and 4 (and 2 but she won't be riding much)... anyways my 6y/o ds is right near the 48inches mark, and 4y/o is right at 40inches how much measuring are they going to have to go through at the parks?? Will there be some one at the front of the line before we wait through the whole line then to find out that's variation in the line starter and someone that measures before boarding the ride??? any suggestion?

There are signs by every rides entrance telling you how tall you must be.

I beleive you can go to Guest Relations to get a one time height check. Then what ever height they are at, they will be giving a wrist band so no further measuring should be required.

oh that is so awsome that thier guest relations does that!!! Disney world needs to take note!!! Arrgg that was so much variation for my dd3 last year and boarding 36inches that it went day to day (in the same shoes) as to what she could ride and what she couldn't we'll check out guest relations as soon as we get there!!!

I also believe that if you go up the exit ramp with a child, they will be able to measure him/her so you don`t have to wait in a long line if there is one only to find out that they are too short. I`m not sure if this is a standard policy or not. I`m sure some of the ride ops that frequent these boards would know some specific procedures about height checks.

if you get a map at the front of the park it tells you how tall you must be to ride each of the rides.

But there are two attractions in which the map lists the incorrect height for the rides. Particularly two of the new Zamperla creations in Nick Universe (Phantom Flyers and Plankton`s Plunge). And as TopGun1993 stated, there are signes at the entrance to every ride with the correct heights for that particular attraction.

^Speaking as a former ride op I'm sure its not a problem for you to come up the exit should the ride not have a greeter, also, just remember that its the policy at any park that the bar on the height scale must stop on the childs head (even if it is touching the childs hair but is still sliding freely back and forth the child can not be considered tall enough) this may seem unfair but its for the child's own safety so please be considerate of the ride operators who are just doing thier job. I hope you have a great trip and that your kids have a wonderful day that will be remember for a long time, I miss being younger and going to amusement parks, they were always so much more amazing back then. Make sure you tell us how the trip goes!

Hopefully, Cedar Fair will replace the swinging bar with just the stick. getting hit with the bar occasionally hurts.

So can anyone clarify if out get get measured once at the guest relations???? My kids are just very close and i hate to have to have them measured at every attraction that they are "close" when i know they are the hight... ya know??

Guys,

Guest Relations does not do height measurements. Each ride does this individually. However, you can request a wristband at the first ride you get to, provided your child is tall enough to ride it. This works really well!

Heres a good list of where to get your wristbands. Most of these are fairly close to the front gate - so you can hit them real quick for a wrist band early in the day. I didn't list all of the rides with the given height requirements - just some close to the front gate - and ones with easy access or greeters who can check without actually riding.

Orange - 54 inches - Delirium or Face/Off

Purple - 48 inches - Drop Zone, Top Gun, Racer

Green - 44 inches - Adventure Express

Blue - 40 inches - Scrambler, Monster, Shake, Rattle & Roll, Fairly Odd Coaster

Yellow - 36 inches - Blue's Skidoo

I don't know about that totally, as sometimes the height scale might be messed with throughout the day by bored ops at the greeter post (Guilty...). So there might be some inaccuracies because of that, but not all the time. CP uses a PVC height stick (I think that might be what that is) that is the exact same length as the required height, rather than a wooden stick for height checking. It probably wouldn't hurt to have both tools at greeter, just in case one is wrong or needs adjusting.

Dodgem Greeter has a regular height stick. Alot of people - and I have done it alot - find out that the height sticks bounce really high if you throw them down on the rubber end. But then it ends up shortening it. Good thing is you can just put a new stopper on it - or adjust the old one. With Cedar Point's PVC - and Holiday World's for that matter - once they start to shorten you gotta get a new one.

You do bring up a good point. But if there was a way to stop the filing down or whatnot, do you think the PVC stick would be practical? Not that I'm questioning the reliability of good 'ol wood and rubber, just curious as if to CF will think about the way Paramount went about height checking.

I don't see how a PVC pipe cut to the specified height would work any better than a marked wooden pole--or if it does, the difference would be trivial. At least as far as accuracy goes, I can't imagine the swinging bar going anywhere.

Now, to go find myself a pole and rubber foot...

The stick is just a long handle that you can buy in the paint department at Home Depot. They also have stoppers and colored 2 inch wide electrical tape there as well. Everything you need to make a height stick - if you really do love them that bad...

I think some people are confusing the height check with Cedar Point. Cedar Point I know for sure has a height checker at Guest Relations and you can get the wristband there.

There was a time when PKI did height bracelets at Guest Relations. I know for a fact they did it several seasons ago.
