Kentucky Kingdom Troubles?

Featured Replies

From the Courier Journal weekend events log, (emphasis added):

Six Flags Kentucky Kingdom, Watterson Expressway at Kentucky Exposition Center. Friday, 11 a.m.-8 p.m.; Saturday, 10 a.m.-9 p.m.; Sunday-Thursday, 11 a.m.-8 p.m. $39.99, $24.99 for children under 48 inches, free for children 3 and younger. Buy an adult admission ticket at any Kroger store for $24.99 (regular admission is $39.99) and get a free children's ticket for ages 4-10. Buy a full-price one-day general admission ticket for $39.99 at the gate and get a Play Pass, which allows you to get the rest of the season free at Kentucky Kingdom only. Not valid at other Six Flags parks. Guests who bring a Coca-Cola product receive $13 off general admission. Parking: $5. www.sixflags.com. Season passes: $59.99 at www.sixflags.com. At gate: $69.99. Parking: $5.

I don't remember them EVER doing this before....

It is a rather radical turn of events from Mr. Shapiro's insistence at the beginning of the season that this Six Flags management was NOT going to be discounting like wild and giving away the gate, don't you think?

I don't think it is in trouble at all. It is one of the Six Flags parks that is profitable. It also fits in with Shapiro's family image.

I'm pretty sure there are some other SF parks doing this, and it's atleast half way through the season, it's just an extra boost. Every time i've been to SFKK, it's been fairly busy even on weekdays.

I think SF is in trouble due to SF New Orleans not being in operation and the fact that it was losing money before the hurricane season. They are probably in the position that they have to start making some deep discounts available. In light of CF buying Paramount Parks, SF may be starting to feel the pinch that CF is starting to deliver. When SF owned/operated Worlds of Adventure it was one nasty place to visit, if the other SF parks operate the same no wonder they need big discounts.

Everyone on this topic seems to think this is a death toll for SFKK but if SFKK is doing so bad then how come it isnt one of the 6 parks SF listed as for possible sale? wink.gif
