adam12
The letters that read "Kings Island" on the sign in the parking lot were RED before 1993. When the sign was changed to accomidate the new Paramount addition on the top of the sign, the letters were changed from RED to BLUE. -adam12
adam12
I would like to know if you all remeber the letters on the Kings Island Sign being red like I do. I remember being very upset that Paramount bought Kings Island, because I knew they would change MANY things. The Park use to be a lot cleaner and did not seem to be a Cookie cutter park, it was one of a kind. (Like the custom trimed bushes in Coney Mall and the painted asfault in the front entrance.) If that makes any sense. If you think about it, the sign might not have fallen if it would not have had that Paramount part on the top of it. It was not designed to have that extra height and weight. -adam12
Mrs. G.
I do. I liked the sign the way it was originally better too but things change. I still have a lot of souvenirs from the 80's, without the "Paramount" on them.

I mean, the sign is several feet by several feet (I can't even imagine an estimate I would make on the size). That's a lot of wind resistance right there. The Paramount logo wouldn't have made enough of a difference to make it fall. Of course, there's always the straw that broke the camel's back... we'll really never know. I totally understand the whole "cookie cutter" analogy that you made. I'm a little tworn about the Paramount thing. I like the deep pocket that they have, but naming every ride after a movie gets old. I've said a million times that they should have the feel of a traditional American theme park. adam12
Lets say if I were Bill Gates, I were to buy a place like Kings Island. If the place had a good reputation, I would not announce any change in owership. Infact, I would spend money to keep it quiet AND make the previous owners sign a privacy agreement. A place like Kings Island is a one of a kind that can't be experianced any where else, at least that is how it use to be, Paramount is making it like there other parks more and more every day. -adam12

coasterdime
By any chance does someone have an online pic of the old sign, pre-Paramount? I loved the old logo...but not too upset with the change, myself.
