BoddaH1994
Well, I decided to go up to the park around 2, so I more or less got there at 3:00. I entered through the CDBB gate to find that part of the park not nearly as crowded as I imagined it would be. Delirium_Guy was supposed to meet met at 3:00, but he was late because he was cleaning his oven. (I've heard worse excuses ) Anyway, not much to report about CDBB... Dane and I did a little math last week and figured out that it's just about 1600x better than Waterworks was. This has proven to be true time and time again. I guess the best example would be the fact that, with the exception of covering the BB construction, I hadn't set foot in the waterpark since about 96, and there I was, heading directly to it. We got to ride the new attractions several times due to the short lines. I think every time I ride the Coolangata Racers, I like them a little bit more. It's hard to judge who wins the race though. When I would race against Delirium_Guy, he would come out first, but I would end up about 25ft farther down the runway than he did.... The cool part was that since he would come out first, I would come out at full speed and hit his wake and honestly jump about 4 or so inches off of the base of the runway. If you don't believe me then ride next to someone who weighs about 100 or so lbs less than you. It happens. Taz was fun too, we were able to ride twice. The first time we rode with just the two of us, and the 2nd we rode with another pair. I honestly think that we got higher in the funnel the first time, which may dispell the original (and logical) theory that the more weight you have, the higher up you go. It may be up to a certain point.. like 350lbs or so... With the two of us, I'd say we had just about 300lbs, but with the four, we were probably circa 650lbs... who knows... After a while, we decided to hit the dry park. Of course, we were in Rivertown, so we payed homage to The Beast. After The Beast, we headed over to the Eagles. Now understand that I had never been able to snap before. I have always been like that dumb kid who sits in the back of class... 14 years old and hasn't yet mastered the art of whistling yet... yeah, that's me on the scooters. Anyway, a lot of people have attempted to teach me how to snap without much success. Finally, I decided to turn to the most famous of them all, Mr. Todd Bills (Todd is still famous amongst the ride ops today from the legendary time in which he managed to get it so high after a snap that he hit a tree). After some enlightening instruction, I was able to snap about 2 or 3 times. We rode some other things, namely The Vortex, but neither of us could get over the Eagles addiction. When we returned, The Rickster was running the ride. He let me have the honor and glory of touching the Eagles' key... not turn it, just touch it.... ah, inspirational! Anyway, he gave me a few pointers himself, and my snappage improved greatly. The park closed at 9:00 which kind of sucked, but I stopped by GR and said hi to M@ilman before I left. While I was there, I filled out a GR report plugging all of the people who I had noticed did a particularly good job, or were particularly friendly (which is something that you guys should ALWAYS do, if these guys go out of their way for you, please do the same for them!) All in all, this was up in my top 10% of favorite days I've spent in the park. Ryan
CoastersRZ
Earlier this year when I was riding the Eagles, I managed to have a small twig on a tree brush the underside of my tub. It kind of startled me the first time it rubbed against the bottom. It rubbed about three times, and then I think it broke off. I didn`t believe that there were any branches close enough to be hit on that ride. I thought they kept thos trees pretty well trimmed. Dane
(Todd is still famous amongst the ride ops today from the legendary time in which he managed to get it so high after a snap that he hit a tree). I hit the trees all the time. I love it when after the ride I have to sweep all the leaves outta the car that have made it in there through those holes in the bottom of the tub. italianchef
I must say that I envy you students who can visit PKI on weekdays while I am slaving away at work.
