H. Phillip Bender new Regional GM over KI

Recommended Posts

Huh? During the conference call, Cedar Fair said that they had split the parks into three divisions. They were the Northern region: Cedar Point, Kings Island, Canada`s Wonderland, Geauga Lake, Dorney Park, Valleyfair and Michigan`s Adventure. The Southern region includes Kings Dominion, Carowinds, and Worlds of Fun. The Western region includes Knott`s Berry, Farm, Great America, and the Soak City water parks. In future press releases and conference calls, they will refer to those regions.

So are the regional managers in charge of parks seperate from the regional managers? Especially odd that he is in charge of parks in both the Southern and Northern regions.

Uh, that's like saying 2 and 2 isn't 4 because 1 and 3 are 4.

We aren't discussing who is GM at Kings Island. We are trying to figure out what regions Cedar Fair has divided the parks into. If the last conference call was right, and I suspect it was, Kings Island and Cedar Point are in the same region, the Northern one. If that is the case, it is unlikely that H. Phillip Bender is the REGIONAL manager for the Northern Region. Whoever the regional manager is for the Northern region (and I suspect it is someone who recently was a high level manager at Cedar Point) is Mr. Scheid's boss...whether he gave a speech or not, or even if he patted a dog. He still has a boss, the next person up in the Cedar Fair chain. The article posted would lead us to believe it is Mr. Bender, but we doubt that, as the article also indicates he is over Worlds of Fun as well, which is supposed to be in a different region.

Get it?

Anybody know more? (What concerns me about that article is they are normally printed by business journals directly from a press release)

The corporate website is no help, as it has not been updated in quite some time. It still shows Mr. Scheid at Dorney, and Mr. Bender at Worlds of Fun, both as GM's:
