August 15, 200620 yr Was at the park 8/14/06. Noticed that the work/clean up lights were on for the lines at Scooby Doo Haunted Mansion and FOF. It really killed the atmosphere for both of those areas. Has anyone else noticed that? Do you think it is the CF influence? Just thought I'd ask. We had a great day a the park considering that we didn't get there until around 4 PM. Crowd was low and weather was good. This was the first time I had been since the front ticket booths had been removed. When did that happen?
August 15, 200620 yr Front gate ticket booths vanished in April of this year. Ticket sales have moved to the season pass building, apparently to minimize congestion between the security checkpoint and the turnstiles. Last I saw Flight of Fear and Scooby were not the harsh bright work lights, but the rooms were brighter than they used to be. This might just be a safety precaution as those queues do involve stairs.
August 15, 200620 yr He is referring to the harsh work lights in the actual ride portion of the rides, not the queue areas.
August 15, 200620 yr Was at the park 8/14/06. Noticed that the work/clean up lights were on for the lines at Scooby Doo Haunted Mansion and FOF. It It says lines. I was at PKI yesterday as well, and they no work lights on in inside the ride portion of FoF. The inside of the que was however brighter then usual, but employees were cleaning too.
August 15, 200620 yr Lights are now on to minimize fights that happened alot this year and its for safty reasons
August 16, 200620 yr Sounds like they were cleaning to me when ever I get in line for Scooby its always kinda dark.
August 16, 200620 yr I was last at KI about 3 weeks ago and the halogen worklights were on in the FoF queue - it really seemed to take away from the intro movie effects with the normal lights (when all the lights cut out, the halogens stay on) I assume the SDATHC lights were later, as I don't remember any being on that day.
August 16, 200620 yr Author Yeah, I'm talking about the work lights in the queue areas. Not the actual ride areas. When we were in line for Sooby the black lights didn't even have any effect because of the bright flourescent lights that were on. At Flight of Fear there were VERY bright Halogen lights on and when the video got to the part where all the lights go out they stayed on. It didn't even seem to get any dimmer in the room. The lines for both rides were really short last Monday, but if you had to wait very long it would be nice for the effects and atmophere of the line areas to be working and not ruined by bright lights.
August 16, 200620 yr Every room has house lights, it was probably either an accident or someone was cleaning something.
August 17, 200620 yr Yeah they usually have the lights off. I once rode Tomb Raider where they turned the lights on a few times during the ride. It really ruins it. I think they wrongfully suspected someone of taking on ride photography.
August 23, 200619 yr Author Back at the park again yesterday and on both SCATHC and FOF the bright lights were on in the queue areas. I think that it's a safty thing that is being done since CF took over. Anybody else notice this or even care about it? I think that it's a shame to have great lighting effects and themeing and it not be able to be used to it's fullest extent. At the same time I can appreciate CF wanting your park experience to be a safe one.
August 23, 200619 yr Author Neither one of those rides queue areas have ever seemed as dark as SCATHC or FOF. At least in my observation.
August 23, 200619 yr They be doing it, for the ops to look at the line and watch people. Inside the control booth they are screens that show what is going on in the line.
August 23, 200619 yr Is it true that there is a room above where you walk into the space ship on FOF of workers to view the line ?
August 23, 200619 yr Is it true that there is a room above where you walk into the space ship on FOF of workers to view the line ? I doubt it. They do have monitors though in the control booth. On SDAHC though they do have a separate room and an ops watches the monitors.
August 24, 200619 yr But diasterbtransport can get reall freakin dark in some places and they dont have lights on in there this really doesnt make much since!
August 24, 200619 yr Is it true that there is a room above where you walk into the space ship on FOF of workers to view the line ? No that is not true. PKIVortex is right - there are a number of monitors - connected to cameras that can see in the dark. It isn't possible to go above the saucer. It is possible to go underneath the station though.
August 24, 200619 yr Im glad they are cleaning, but still would someone get up there with some Windex. The mirrors need a little cleaning.
