  1. Negligence is, at this point, a valid claim. Whether the reason is bad wood, bad design, improper maintenence, crop circles and alien abduction of staff, whatever, KI certified the ride as safe to run that morning. The ride was not safe to operate. Therefore, KI was negligent in inspecting the ride to ensure safety of guests. If the area that broke was not an inspected area, then the daily inspection procedures are negligent by not completely ensuring that the ride is safe. To those who believe that these people have no right to sue, I point out, as others have done, the implied warranty of safety.
  2. I was last at KI about 3 weeks ago and the halogen worklights were on in the FoF queue - it really seemed to take away from the intro movie effects with the normal lights (when all the lights cut out, the halogens stay on) I assume the SDATHC lights were later, as I don't remember any being on that day.
  3. If you have 2 days, go ahead and leave the park to eat. The prices are better, quality is better, and, with kids, you'll appreciate the break from walking and standing. Be warned - the subway and montgomery inn inside the park are nothing like real Subway or Montgomery Inn - they're expensive and lower quality. In terms of time, I have been to the park and been able to ride everything major in 4-5 hours. It all depends on the day you go, but you will be able to get to everything over 2 days, even with leaving to eat. With the water in the park, it is out of the Coke machines, so it's the same as dasani without the salts added to the Dasani (Dasani, Aquafina, Deja BLue are all just filtered tap water with some mineral salts added to get that crisp taste)
  4. Why is this interesting? If there is any suspiscion of structural damage, there should be a structural engineer on staff to investigate what caused it to break. Business as usual...
  5. That makes me feel so much better.... On a completely unrelated note, did anyone notice the 2-second shot inside the operator booth? I assume this is more sophisticated than just a button to start and a button to stop, but how sophisticated is it? I saw at least 2 monitors of some type.
  6. Well they're not doing us curious folk any good there so I thought I'd take the liberty upon my visit down from Calgary: Notice the two men working: Photograph taken Saturday, April the twenty-ninth, two thousand and six after death from the exit pathway of Top Gun. ALL PRAISE THE KING! it's actually anno domine (latin for the year of our lord), not after death. think about it. AD began with Christ's birth, and he lived about 30-35 years before he died. i.e., he died around AD 33. just something that sort of annoys me. anyway, thanks for the photos. i hope it gets to the "rideable" level after the rehab.
  7. THe main reason I asked is because they had a few people (just the normal ops, I assume) standing at the entrance to the line - generally not something that would be labor-effective if it were down for more than a few runs. On a side note, do parts for huss rides like TRTR and Delirium have to be shipped from germany, or is there some US location?
  8. Any idea what was wrong with TRTR on monday? I was there and they had the line entrance closed and the actual ride entrance's door closed.
  9. I got there around noon, nick universe was jam-packed but everything else was either 5-10 min. or a walkon.
  10. For Son of Beast, I have faith that Paramount can fix it. Opening day - start with FoF (rode on the last run of it last season), followed by Vortex, Beast, TRTR depending on time and line, Nick Universe for some pictures and video, Avatar, Bubba Gump, general goofing off all afternoon. Probably some Action Zone rides.
  11. you pay money for your 3d programs? I use Blender3D, a free and open-source modelling program. http://www.blender3d.org/ The interface is a little tricky to learn, but once you figure it out, you can produce models amazingly fast.
  12. I got my pass at the end of last season, around 70 bucks in a 4-pack, free gold upgrade, free parking for rest of 05 and all of 06, still valid in 06. My friends and I rarely eat in the park. It might be just a personal thing, but we all live about 10-15 minutes away from the park and we generally prefer to head back home around 2:30 and order pizza, play some PS2, and head back for a Beast ride in the dark. I honestly can't taste any difference between KI larosas and normal larosas - but i haven't really been paying attention. On opening day, my friends and I might just test it.
  13. you could host them on google video - http://video.google.com. free and unlimited isn't it entirely possible to (just theoretically speaking here, just get the park's permission to tape, easier and legal) put the camera into a jacket pocket and take it out on the ride? I've been called by friends while riding Vortex, and I just picked it up. Phone was tied to my wrist, so no risk of it flying off. It's a great answer when they ask where you are - in the middle of a loop
