I'm not so sure....Ever hear of Castaway Bay? It's giving Great Wolf FITS at Sandusky and vice versa (Great Wolf is giving IT fits)...

Cinci has a large year round population that Sandusky lacks. There's room enough for both.

...and Kalahari is giving them both fits. Three major indoor waterparks in such a small market...

Sandusky is only a small market in the Winter and Spring.

If you've been to the area in the fall/winter as opposed to Spring/Summer it is like night and day.

The lodging market in Sandusky is very competitive...there are simply a lot of rooms there, regardless of the season. Obviously, those rooms are lot easier to fill in July then January, but when you have a $100M+ capital investment, it's hard to cut it on just strong Summers. The company I worked for owned/operated two hotels in the market (I personally opened one in the dead of Winter on rt. 250.) I've seen the STR reports for the market...the big properties really have to fight it out. (Take a look at what CF reported re: Castaway Bay's results after Kalahari opened.)
