DeLorean Rider
I was on the Cedar Fair main website and noticed that Bonfante Gardens was one of the Cedar Fair parks. I know that there used to be an association between either Bonfante Gardens and Kings Island or with Paramount. Does anyone know if Cedar Fair owned Bonfante Gardens before the purchase of Paramount or if it came in the package as Star Trek: The Experience did? Thanks! http://www.cedarfair.com/
Reclaimer
Cedar Fair got the management contract for Bonfante Gardens that Paramount originally had. CF also now manages the Star Trek attraction.
Gordon Bombay
Whatever happened to the Tierra Mietica contract Paramount Parks had?
Reclaimer
I think it expired or something back in 2004.
Kenban
All Paramount ever did was manage the park it does not own any part of the park. The same is true of Cedar Fair. Paramount owned the hardware at the Star Trek Experience and the space was still owned by the hotel. I expect the agreement is the same now as it once was (not sure though) and Cedar Fair runs and owns the rides themselves. I am not sure how popular the rides are now but I hope that if its ever shut down they are moved to a Cedar Fair park and not just scraped. Both attractions are Disney quality and would be great additions anywhere.
italianchef
I am honestly surprised that Star Trek was part of the deal. You'd think CBS would keep it since it is part of the movie franchise. My guess is that CF will sell or close it within 10 years. Sad to say, Star Trek is not what it used to be in terms of popularity. The Interpreter
The movie franchise would belong over at Viacom, the same place the Paramount name lives. To my knowledge, CBS got neither...and was operating the Las Vegas location under license. It would not surprise me if the terms of the Las Vegas location include a payment TO Cedar Fair for managing it...something CBS did not want to do.... They also TRIED to sell their interest in Great Wolf at Mason to Cedar Fair, who was NOT interested.....
