mutedarkness Posted April 3, 2007 Posted April 3, 2007 Im going to SFKK this weekend for their opening day. I should have a trip report and video trip report at thrillsloadedDOTcom anyone else going? Quote
italianchef Posted April 3, 2007 Posted April 3, 2007 I am hoping to visit SFKK later this year so that my family can get photographed with super-heroes. Please write a trip report and mention the heroes. Have a great day! Italian Chef Quote
CoastersNSich Posted April 3, 2007 Posted April 3, 2007 I'm planning to go this Friday, weather permitting. While I'll be there primarily to ride the coasters (duh), I'll be sure to take photos of the park in general, including some of the changes. And yes, I'll look out for costumed characters, including super heroes. Quote
mutedarkness Posted April 3, 2007 Author Posted April 3, 2007 the weather friday is high of 50 partly cloudy i checked. But i dont know if im still going... people are backing out. Quote
notredame0608 Posted April 4, 2007 Posted April 4, 2007 i was supposed to go on saturday, but its too cold! The 14th doesn't look much better. Quote
CoastersNSich Posted April 4, 2007 Posted April 4, 2007 I'm cosidering pushing my visit back to Monday (SFKK is open all week next week), because as of now, it's the only day expecting a high around 60 so far... Quote
Gordon Bombay Posted April 4, 2007 Posted April 4, 2007 So tom, SFKK is open during the week? Excellent, thanks to the fact that im on spring break i may have to go for a visit and check it out for the first time. Quote

Excellent, thanks to the fact that im on spring break i may have to go for a visit and check it out for the first time. They are open 11AM - 6PM next Monday through Friday. They do this every season. It usually is a great time to head down to the Park. I've never really experienced huge crowds, we usually ride everything we want. Gotta love Greezed Lightnin'! I am thinking of heading down myself, we may also skip off to Dollywood or Six Flags over Georgia again too. - Todd Quote
Gordon Bombay Posted April 4, 2007 Posted April 4, 2007 11am to 6pm would be pretty good hours, if some of my friends are interested in pitching in for gas and helping drive i may be coming down. How are the food prices there? I hear terrible. Quote

How are the food prices there? I hear terrible. 11-6 is definitely ample time to enjoy the park :-) Its not a terrible park, just not one that takes a whole day to enjoy. As for food prices, having experienced both Fiesta Texas and over Georgia this season, I'd say they are comparable. Over priced, yes, but not nearly as bad as what KI was charging for stuff last season. Also, parking is only $4 I believe (thanks to the fairgrounds) so you definitely score there :-) - Todd Quote
Gordon Bombay Posted April 4, 2007 Posted April 4, 2007 Thanks for the info Todd, depending on how the paychecks look friday, a trip may be in order. Quote
Mikewhy Posted April 4, 2007 Posted April 4, 2007 Parking at the KY Fairgrounds where SFKK is costs $5. Enjoy your visit, although anyone going during SFKK opening weekend will be freezing! The weather should warm into the 60's though by mid week. Quote
flightoffear1996 Posted April 4, 2007 Posted April 4, 2007 I was planning on going but some things have came up and I don't think I am going to go anymore. Quote
CoastersNSich Posted April 4, 2007 Posted April 4, 2007 I'm probably going to eat before and after I go there. The food in the park isn't necessarily bad, but fairly expensive. And for the relatively short time (about 5 hours?) that I'll be in the park, it makes more sense for me to eat somewhere for less or better. When heading to the park, I find it easier to simply head for the main parking gate for the Expo Center, from the westbound Watterson Expressway, so you don't have to circle around the perimeter road. With Freedom Hall straight ahead, I usually go left to park in the lot next to the park and the East Hall/Wing. While it sucks that there's no re-entry option to parking (without paying again), at least it's just $5, and not $10 to $15. Quote
The Interpreter Posted April 5, 2007 Posted April 5, 2007 It's my understanding that if you have a Six Flags pass with season pass parking from another park, you can get a refund on your parking money by visiting Guest Relations. Don't know for sure yet, but will be trying it soon. By the way, I found the food prices at Six Flags Great Adventure to be less than those at Carowinds this season, and the food quality to be far higher. Just a point in passing. (And yes, Papa John's pizza is $6.50 a slice at GAd, while the nameless pizza at Carowinds is $4.29 for pepperoni, but the slice at GAd was at least twice as large as the Carowinds one, and far, far superior in both taste and quality).
