jzarley
As a follow-up to the thread earlier this week on the article on Ohio zoos, I saw on 10TV this morning that the Columbus Zoo will hold a contest (starting on Monday) to name their new waterpark. Here's the link to the info on 10TV's site: http://www.10tv.com/?sec=home&story=si...1682372217.html I'm not real wild about any of the names, but to be honest, I kind of think all waterpark names normally sound alike anyway (They say they'll also accept write-in suggestions...) The quality of the images on the 10TV site are awful...I'm hoping that the artwork on the zoo's site will be better quality when it goes up on Monday. FOFirehawkFAN
Honestly this sucks! I used to work at Wyandot Lake (what the waterpark used to be called) and I drove by it and there is litteraly nothing left! You can't tell a difference between where the parking lot was and where the wave pool was. And all the names suck! Wyandot Lake used to be a premier water park, and guess which company bought it and took it all to hell, just guess, the same company that did it with Geauga Lake which might see the end of its rope before too long as well. God Six Flags stinks.
padfoot714
The Columbus Zoo is going to totally revamp this park and hopefully bring it back to life. Columbus Zoo has some major expansion plans in the works for the next couple of years that should turn it into a mini resort almost.

God Six Flags stinks. Wait just a minute. That was the OLD Six Flags. And yes, they did that to many parks...but two points: ( a ) The old Six Flags management is gone. Thankfully. ( b ) At least a couple of the parks Six Flags bought may have otherwise gone out of business had the company not bought them. Geauga Lake is definitely in the fix it is in because the company overbuilt the place far too quickly and inappropriately, and bought out the local competitor for amusements AND combined the gates. Nothing even remotely similar happened at Wyandot. In fact, nothing much at all happened at Wyandot under Six Flags' 'stewardship,' such as it was. jzarley
Yeah...I'm really confused about how a $20M investment, doubling the size, new rides, and a new themed environment can be a bad thing at the park previously known as Wyandot Lake... I also give the zoo a lot of credit for keeping the Sea Dragon and building the new "dry ride" park around it. I'm sure it would have been a lot cheaper and easier just to bulldoze it and start the entire area from scratch, but they respected the historical significance and are making it the focal point of the dry area. ragerunner
If that parks theming turns out to be close to the drawings, WOW!!! This may turn out to be Ohio's version of a Sea World or Busch Garden type park.

Im not saying it's a bad thing it's just sad growing up with one park and now it will be something completly different. Don't get me wrong I think it looks AWESOME and I will def either get a job there or get a season pass next summer.

cstrwomann
The sketches look great for the new water park/amusement park. I hope to visit it next year depending on how the pricing is done.
