Park Maps

I remember that when Paramount Parks/Paramount/Viacom/Nickelodeon managed Kings Island, the park map was updated every month more or less.

However, with CF, it seams that Kings Island has one standard park map for the entire season. I reckon that it is a good way to save money on printing costs.

Have a great day!

Paramount/Viacom/CBS only did the changing park maps later in their ownership, when they were into their becoming the "Universal of the Midwest" phase. I doubt that more than 5 percent of guests even noticed.

Unlike at Disney, I doubt that a large percentage of guests keep the park map/directory/guide as a keepsake/memento of their visit. I know a lot of people who still have Disney ones from decades ago.

I think Paramount only changed the maps that often because they didn't run all of their shows through the whole year so they had to put out new maps when a new show would start or an old one would end.

Right now, I'd just be happy if CF would put this years map on their website. They have last years up and I hope that's not what they mail me in a week or so.

Uh Cedar Fair isn't running all of there shows for the whole season. They have a gird with dates on the top, and the shows on the left, and it lists when the shows will be playing. The only thing nice about Paramount putting out different maps with dates was, they could advertise about special events in the map. And when it was over they could change that section to something else. But I can also imagine that printing up all of those different maps weren't cheap. Then if you still had ones left over after the expired, I'd imagine they were just thrown away.

Yeah, it seems as though CF is a little more sensative to that sort of thing. For example, if you look at the posters in Action Zone they have Boomerang Bay, which is either going to open, or is open for 90% of the season, Fearfest (my personal favorite poster) which is good up and through the whole season, Wings Buffet, and Firehawk. For example, if they did the Star Spangled Celebration, which would have been obselete half way through the season.

Anyone with a park map from fearfest 2004 needs to read the sub text under tomb raider. It talks about an exciting new sequal. This was an idea by the marketing dept of KI that they didnt get approved by the rides dept. Aparently marketing didnt realize the amount of time and effort it takes to write the program for the ride, and the show, and then make the ride sync up with the show. Obviously it never happened.

That's very interesting. I wonder if CF would ever think about doing that with TRTR or if they're working on getting the sound for the ride now fixed. If anyone has the map, could you scan it and post the picture of the ride and the text?

In the past there has actually been serious consideration about removing TR from the building and making it an outdoor top spin. If the ride were outside it would actually run a lot more reliably. The problem right now is that because it has to sync up with the show, all the movements have to take place within a very strict set of parameters where as if the ride was outside and didnt hit a marker at the exact time, it's no big deal. The only thing is, that would cost money to do and the park has decided they have other priorities.
