A really good article/interview on some of the basics that go into how ride operators work.

It's a good read, although KI has plenty of differences (I won't discuss though)

 

AVC: How long is an actual shift?

KF: We work between 8 and 10 hours.

 

 

 

 

AVC: Considering these guys have lives in their hands, you guys probably pay pretty well.

KF: Yes, we are above minimum wage. 

 

 

I'm LOLing right now.

Coney pays their ride operators minimum wage.  And we have been struggling the last couple of years to get enough staffing.  Its hard to entice people to work at Coney when people can go out to Target, etc. and get $9 an hour starting out.

From greeter to driver in a week and a half? I find that hard to believe...

The title of that article is rather unfortunate. It basically insults the people who would be otherwise interested in reading.

It's an entertainment website owned by The Onion (though it's not a satirical news site). I'm really not surprised they used a headline like that.
