  1. Based on the video, I already like this more than Dstack.
  2. I think you need to ask Six Flags. But it seems that is one of the cases where Topper Track was used to eliminate trouble spots in an existing ride, and not a case where they redesigned the ride to be something new.
  3. According to Wikipedia, about a third of the ride was given Topper Track. As the manufacturing process has advanced, I see no reason for them to deny a customer the use of Topper Track for a full conversion. Both forms of track are assembled at the factory, and often both use steel crossties. Maybe when they were in the smaller facility with less staff they would deny such a request due to lack of resources, but I see no reason for it now. Especially with how well liked rides like Outlaw Run, Wildfire, and Lightning Rod are.
  4. Agreed. Topper track rides seem to be better received, and the park can potentially market it as a record breaking wooden coaster. Both forms of RMC track are assembled at the factory, so it wouldn't take any longer on site.
  5. That's absolutely true. GL was only about 1M per year with Sea World next door. Removing the (extremely unique) animal park removed the potential guests to visit both parks.
  6. Except the employees that I am friends with mentioned 2007 was the busiest summer they had seen since Cedar Fair took over the park.
  7. Oh, it's not him, it's his "daughter"... I put my unofficial suggestion for a webcam to be placed at the top of DBack's lift hill.
  8. That's some funny stuff right there. This must be your first construction project. No, they aren't concerned about anything being "off a little bit". They have rather precise measurements to work with. And the tree stumps were removed with the trees.
  9. Construction, even with proper scheduling, is still a dynamic process. If step 3 can be started before step 2 in completed, without detriment to the project timeline, then there is little reason to just keep waiting when progress can be made otherwise.
  10. Absolutely. I had Wildcat PTC ranked significantly higher than Wildcat MF is these days.
  11. So, now that we have the webcam available, the design choice for the curved path to the entrance to WWC makes a lot more sense.
  12. I was there closing day 2007, I spoke to Bill Spehn an hour before closing. The only indication of anything was the statement that the park attendance did not justify it's current size. That was the explanation for losing two major rides. An hour after that conversation, the rides were closed for good. Related: I spoke to Dick at Cedar Point on opening day 2006 (next to Skyhawk, behind the Town Hall Museum). He stated that there were exciting plans for the future of Geauga Lake. I even thanked the man for returning the park to it's legacy name, and for removing the corporate mess that was Six Flags.
  13. Lightning Racer and Thunderhead are the two I've ridden designed for MilFlyer trains. Roar and Wildcat are older GCI on my list. I have very few issues with PTC trains, except when the Ghostrider Op stepped on my lap bar to check it.
  14. I have found some of the most uncomfortable rides to be on Millennium Flyer trains. Those lap bars fold very nicely right against the seat belt buckle, my belt buckle, and above my thigh below my stomach. I am exactly the right dimensions to find those rides very painful. It is Millennium Flyer trains that dropped Wildcat at Hersheypark from my top 5 down to nearly the bottom. If I do not hold the lap bar the entire ride, I exit the ride in an unnecessary amount of discomfort.
  15. Sadly, I hardly remember Intimidator. But that was opening weekend for Fury, so my attention was elsewhere. Many of these rides are subject to comparison based on other rides in the same park. So a ride being ranked higher or lower is probably related to it's neighbors.
  16. Those are deep enough for a little water to not matter.
  17. Wow. Either they got a lot of negative attention, or they want to prevent it.
  18. Many (newer?) rides use large "connected" foundations between the visible footers/footings that are attached to the structure. This is only more obvious on a wooden coaster as the support structure has more ground connection points.
  19. They could have ordered it last week, but if the supplier doesn't have it available there isn't much they can do but wait.
  20. Geauga Lake is the head water of Tinker's Creek which empties into Cuyahoga River. https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Geauga_Lake_(lake)
  21. As sad as this is... can we raise $100 million on Kickstarter or GoFundMe? Enthusiasts don't have that kind of money. I'd be surprised if the campaign got to $100. I really hope people aren't attempting to take me seriously here...
  22. Where is the ROI going to come from? The community is not growing. The park drove commerce to the area. Without that group of people coming to the area, those businesses are going to struggle.
